Setting is nice, quite impressive. Cold atmosphere (at least, for me).
Meal can be served at pool area. In evening, piano while having diner.
As for food, not my favourite at all. Good but my preference goes to Joffre restaurant.
Favorite Dish: Cocktails, especially Plantation.

Not a restaurant but a tiny shop.
A Pakistanese woman used to sell sambos she made herself. Tasteful. She didn't sell in tea room or big shop but in a shop near Bd. Joffre. It is (would be) located rue Amiral Goulette (according to a person who used to return to Madagascar and Toamasina very often).
While heading to Restaurant Joffre (from center), just before arriving at Restaurant level, turn right. No indication or whatsoever but she is there. Look at the queue to understand this is a sought-after address!
Try pâte de banane (banana paste, yummy) and bonbon-coco (coconut snack) as well.
Favorite Dish: Sambos
Pâte de banane
Bonbon coco

Well,
This hotel means a lot to me. Each time I went in Toamasina, I used to stay there.
It has been there since decades. As for setting, it has kept a charming stamp from the past. A feature I use to appreciate.
I used to love the restaurant with great French style- cuisine, ranging from meat specialty to seafood... I even know that one day, a relative (frequent-user) had to eat light during his stay there and ordered a Malagasy bouillon. The chef made it correctly as if it was homemade.
Its terrasse are animated since it looks onto Bd Jouffre, main street (here, a boulevard) in Toamasina city.
Favorite Dish: - Grilled zébu meat
- Salade de fruits de mer (seafood salad??)
- Soupe de poisson (French-style fish soup with bisque and rouille)

"Spicy" and fragrant Toamasina city

Well, what to say? Toamasina is for me a city valuable for its "douceur de vivre"... Just the contrary of Tana. Not that I don't like my birth city, I love it. But Toamasina is just different. With...
