Don`t expect too much food on Likoma Island. Although the situation changed a lot, the variety of food on Likoma Island is not really impressing. Its depending on the trading boats travelling between here and Mozambique. It can happen that there are no vegetables available or prices increase for the last bananas Usually the days after the Ilala had been at Likoma are the best days for shopping.
There is a shop opposite the `Chikondano Restaurant` where Chapatti bread is sold sometimes!

Most beaches are safe to swim but there are also crocodiles on Likoma Island. If you are not sure whether it’s ok or not to swim ask the locals. There had been reports about incidents near “Madimba Beach“. In 1994 a crocodile killed a child. Don’t not swim at places with lots of reeds. Not only that you could “meet” crocs but for sure you will pick up Bilharzias!
