Amandine is a great restaurant in Bamako. Although it is owned by Lebanese men, the menu is more similar to what you might find here in the United States. They serve all kinds of great foods ranging from pizza to steaks, and all kinds of stuff. It's a "typical" Western restaurant, except it happens to be in the middle of Africa.
They also had a bakery area where they sold a lot of desserts like cakes and pies. I never had any of that, but it looked good!
The prices are a lot higher than most of the other places around town, but it's not that bad - it's actually comparable to the prices you would find at a similar place in Europe or North America. From what I gathered, the locals don't eat there much because of the cost, but if you are craving some "Western" food, this is the place to go.
Favorite Dish: Pizza Marguerite (cheese pizza) - This was really good, I came back a few times to have this during my 6 week stay here. It has a distinct flavor that you don't get from normal cheese pizzas in the United States, which I liked.

This Bistro is an oasis located right in the middle of the frenzied market area of Quartier Fleuve.
Relaxed African athmosphere, a favourite of musicians and of people working in the vicinity, a cool meeting place between Westerners and Malians.
Especially popular for long lunches, they serve both African and European dishes. While everything is well made, I recommend the brochette and the capitaine which both offer great value for money. You can have wine, beer and any other alcoholic beverages.
Favorite Dish: Capitaine

This a tourist-oriented typically african restaurant. With a pleasant garden, and decorated with African motifs, is a good place for dinner, either outside or inside the restaurants
Favorite Dish: Mouton with coconut and couscous. The fruit juices (ginger, tamarind...) are original and delicious. No alcohol served.

Amandine, Badalabougou to the south of Bamako across the old bridge
Friendly staff, good food. Brilliant patisserie.
Favorite Dish: We are regulars at this restaurant. We have tried many things from the varied menu. Don't be mislead by the 'fast food' menu .. it's NOT .. service can be very slow indeed. The pizzas are very good ..try the four seasons one. We buy schwarmas and pizza and freeze them at home to eat later.

Thierry is a Malian/French.
He makes the best pizza of Bamako, made on a woodfire.
It is only open after 7PM,
I like to have dinner outside in a warm atmosphere, cool live music, local decoration.
Favorite Dish: Pizza Thierry

Located in the Quartier du Fleuve, the restaurant and bar is decorated in the style of Marseilles with a touch a Provences.
You will eat Provencal food accomodated with what they can find in Mali.

In a typical Maghrebian/Malian design, you will enjoy an Europeanized Malian food.
The menu is full of different fresh juices, local dishes made of lamb khebabs, couscous, and surprising desert dishes
Favorite Dish: Bissap's cocktail
Royal couscous
Smoked capitaine salad

A nice restaurant/bar. The food is good, particularly the italian food, there is a good salad bar too. The prices are medium. However, if you wish you can swim for free after a meal in the hotel pool.
Favorite Dish: The capitane fish is particularly good.

A Malian restuarant run by Malians. The decor is fabulous, mostly in terracotta colours with local artwork . There are lots of artefacts hung on the walls.
This is not just a restaurant as there are several shops and galleries on the site. There is lots to see and buy, although prices are high for the tourist items.
There is an art gallery on the site but the prices are almost London gallery prices.
The food is good and freshly prepared although the service is rather slow. The menu is quite limited but all the dishes are good and the prices are quite low. the navarine of lamb is particularly good. Don't miss the local fruit drinks. The 'melange' is really good, but watch out for the ginger! The staff are nice and friendly..
I went for a meal there the other day and they had a great guitarist and balafon player. Most evenings they have live music and at other times play local music over the PA system.
Favorite Dish: The brochettes are good. There are a range of Malian dishes on offer.
