Soccer in Mali

by ZeekLTK

Mali hosted the 2002 African Cup of Nations, and in doing so they upgraded many of their stadiums and facilities. These are all still in use today, so if you're in one of these towns, try to catch a game!Bamako: Stade 26 Mars and Stade Modibo KeitaKayes: Stade Abdoulaye Nakoro CissokoMopti: Stade Barema BocoumSegou: Stade Amari DaouSikasso: Stade Babemba TraoréAll stadiums are used by their local club teams in the domestic league and the stadiums in Bamako are also used by the national team.Tickets can be pretty cheap. I went to a U-20 Qualifying match between Mali and Guinea at Stade Modibo Keita. The "sunny side" seats were 1000 CFA (about $2) and the "shade seats" were double, 2000 CFA (about $4). This particular stadium was pushed up right against some cliffs, and several people watched the match from up there, without paying for a ticket!

Foosball

by zrim

Like most places in the world outside of the U.S. Malians are mad about football (soccer). Everywhere you go you will see makeshift goals on dirt playing fields. That did not surprise me, but I did not expect to see so many foosball tables. And it was not just kids that played foosball, I saw many adults trying their hand at the game.
