Streets in Atar are very crowed due to the high business rates. Mauritanians are business men and they try to make business with everthing, which sometimes is not good specialy when you're stuck in sand with your car in the middle of the desert and you ask for help and people say: ok, hom much you pay for me to help you? how much you want? 200 euros!! come one give me a break...

Clothes in Mauritania are quite different from anyother arab country. Roots here tend to be more Moorish than arab arab. Women dress this unique tissues covering all their body when they are out in the sun, as soon they get to a place they tend to uncover a bit. Colours are also a great thing. Tissues are peinted in every colour possible with nice patterns. You can get a tissue like this for 1500UM for the simple one and maybe 200UM or 2500UM for a more complex and hand painted one. April 2004 in Nouakchott the price of the Mauriatanian Ouguya with the Euro was 1-380. Always remeber to exchenge your money in the capital cos it will be worthing more that in other places in the country.
