Chinguetti Things to Do

Another view of the old mosque. When i passed here it was time of the prayer before the sun set. So passing here listening to the call of Allah was something really special to me. Very pure and magical:

a must to listen to this in Chinguetti. Go close to the mosque and wait until you ear the call. you have prayers 5 times a day.

This is one of the most beautiful places in town. The old mosque was constructed 700 years ago and is the main mosuqe of the town considered to be number 7 most sacred town of islam in the whole world.
This town is considered World Heritage for its importance because of this building, the whole area of the old town town and also because of its ancient libraries.

Children in town are very nice and polite. I arrived to Chinguetti after i came from Terjit where children were very violent to me. Here in Chinguetti people seem to be very used to tourists and like to talk to them. They love to be photographed, some girls near the old mosque will ask you to buy their necklaces in change of a photo of course.

This is how the old town of Chinguetti looks like from far or from the new part of town. This look so magical. Before i got inside the old town i was feeling really special of visiting such a place. Chinguetti is a special place and does feel like a special place.

Old houses like this one are maybe hundreds of years old already and pass generation to generation. The wooden doors are amaing and many have an excelent hand work carved on them.

this is the part of Chiinguetti, the old one, that belongs to UNESCO world heritage. Is very magical and has a special energy floating around.
