As you can see on the picture, there is not much to buy in this market as a country memory thing. Mauritania is very poor in handicraft. Producing things in Mauritania is not high. And I though my country Portugal didn't produce things (which makes economy work slowly), now I think we are the kings of the world. ha! how about this one. At least we have some turism... ok continuing talking about Mauritania and Nouadhibou:
This maket is full of old women trying to make their monthly earnings with you of course. So expect to be told 10000UM for a 500UM piece. Always go for a walk, chat with people and ask prices everywhere. Only with this you'll have a general idea of how much you do have to pay.

Just go outside the door you see on the pic and you are in Mahfood street markets. Maybe two blocks with street vendors where you can buy from fresh produce, meat, clothes, shoes, cooking stuff, goats and almost everything you cannot remember of course.
These doors on the picture are inside the Grand Marche.

This is located in "ville" right in the area of the Mahfood street markets. Actually it took me a while to find out which was Mahfood from what was the Grand Market.
This is a big place where people come to buy every type of things. From fish to clothes, from spices to hair products. Theres a very large quantity of white arabs clothes stylers inside. Some Senegalese clothes can also be found.
On this pic you have the gate from the Friday's mosque side. door close during the night. In hidding places of the market the smell of *** is very strong.

yes Numero, thats the name you have to say everytime you get a cab and wish to move there. The cab will cost you 30UM if you're comming from the ville. Outside the ville is more expensive.
This is the big mosque again. Its my second photo from it here in Must see Activity tips. Like I said before, this mosque was built with money from the most well know terrorist organization. Along in this area there are a large number of mansions from rich people. You can also see if you walk a bit north in quartier 64 the houses of the boss of the guy in charge of the organizatoin in Nouadhibou. Maybe almost 10 houses, one for the young daughter, another for the son, one for the right arm etc... One of the houses has a monkey on the front Yard.

On the bottom part of the airport. after Numerowat district. Ask permission to take some photos. Every morning a couple of camels are brutally killed in the area. I can't imagine that to be very pleasent to witness.
Mauritanians eat a lot of camel meat, that's why this kind of herding is needed. Like we have cows, they have camels of course. It is very easy to find camel meat in Mauritania, and in a lot of places in the desert, camel meat with onions and couscous or rice will be about the only thing available, so if you're vegetarian like me, just bring your camping gaz stove with you and some rice and beans.

Cabano Cape is the ocean shore east of the city. You have to pass the airport and you'll reach the ocean. Has you reach the ocean and start following the shore up north you'll find many houses. Further more you'll reach a fishermen village.

Nouadhibou, formerly Port-?tienne, town, northwestern Mauritania, administrative center of Dakhlet-Nouadhibou Region, on the Atlantic Ocean. It is a fishing and fish-processing center. The nearby seaport of Point Central in 1963 became the shipping center for iron ore produced in the interior around Fd?rik. Population (1992 estimate) 70,000.

Fringing the Atlantic coast, the park comprises sand-dunes, coastal swamps, small islands and shallow coastal waters. The contrast between the harsh desert environment and the biodiversity of the marine zone has resulted in a land- and seascape of outstanding natural significance. A wide variety of migrating birds spend the winter there. Several species of sea turtle and dolphin, used by the fishermen to attract shoals of fish, can also be found.

This mosque was made with money from the most well known terrorist organization. Everybody knows which one is it of course.
Around the mosque can be found the house or mansion of the head man of the organization that does have a huge influence in Mauritania and in Nouadhibou.

Address: Located in Numerowat
Cansado Bay, 10km from the city centre is a must in the city. Due to the lack of interesting things to see here in Nouadhibou you have to come to this beach and enjoy the old boats. In terms of environment is obviously not correct but since the boats are already there just enjoy the dead and lost boats. This is odd and amazing.
