Best hummus I've ever had. Great shish kabobs. Ice creme looked good but I never had room. From our hotel (the Mouna) go to the main intersection with the stop;ight and make a right and it's about a mile down on the right. parking in front. Plain decor but the place is clean and the service is good. Ate there multiple times in our month in Nouakchott and had them cater 2 business lunches.

Favorite Dish: Hummus and chicken shish kabob.

The owner is a French from the Department 64, Pyrenees / Pays Basque.
However, there are no specialities from this region.
In Nouakchott, you do what you can with what is possible on the market.

The place is OK, close to the stadium, and it is open seven days a week.

The decoration is half local, half souvenirs of Pays Basque

Favorite Dish: Assiette de la Mer: some different grilled fishes and shelves, lobsters, prawns, squids.

Restaurant are quite limited in Nouakchott, but therr are nice places to go to, such as La Palmerai for tea-time or the mexican restaurant in Las Palmas!!!

Remember in Nouakchott, there are no adresses, everything is near something else, or is on the road to somewhere. Just tell the name, and hope your driver will know where it is!!!

Two Libanese restaurants: the Park Hotel’s restaurant (but better as take away) and Restaurant Taska Karaoké.

There is a very good Cameroon restaurant in a small street just behind Taska Karaoke, but don’t be in haste. I used to call them, make my order, and go there to eat one hour later!!! Their poulet braise and aloco is devine!

There are a few Chinese, none to recomand, they taste all the same.

One Mexican, in Las Palmas (the name of an area in Nouakchott).

On the paved road that passes in front of Monotel you have the Pizza Lina, Naf burger, and Naf Café.
L´Ksar restaurant is in the Ksar area.
Select Restaurant and Club B (very nice place a bit classy!) are in Tevragh Zeina area.

La Palmerai not far from the French Cultural Center, have very nice pastries and good fresh bread for take away as well.

You eat well in Mercure and Novotel, but the prices are Accord's!!!!!
