Restaurant El Behdja.: Nouakchott - If you need a beer!!!!!

by pfsmalo

This a great place to eat. Good food, a great choice of music and to top it off, they have beer. In this essentially "dry" country beer does wonders for the morale. Of course it has a price, but it's worth it!!! I took the brochettes of capitaine. Capitaine is a fish that can be found in either the sea or as in Mali, the river Niger. Deliciousssss!!!!Cost was 3000 UM - Under 9 euros, a beer was 1200 UM in comparison expensive but.....

Fiesta: Mexican Food in Mauritania???

by mpanizza

It's possible... you can find good Mexican even in Saharan Africa. The owner of this restaurant is an American of Mexican descent and they serve up some really good food. The homemade chips and salsa are better than most places in the States. This place hits the spot when you just want something predictable to eat. Only had the Enchiladas and quesadillas, but they were both really good.

Jour & nuit: Finally a shady terrace

by sachara

At the mainstreet, not far from our campsite, we found finally a place where we could sit outside in the shade in the late afternoon. While drinking a tea, we could have a look at the streetlife. Anyway, we thought we could. But the problem was, there were so many flies around, that we had to fly indoors. So we did and decided to order here also our dinner. The dinner was great, no chicken today. We ordered brochettes and salade for a change. And we drunk a delicious banana juice.

Trois Etoiles: Senegalese food in Nouadhibou

by sachara

During our deserttrips we cooked ourselves or, when we had dinner at the campsites, we had chicken and pommes frites most of the time.In Nouadhibou the Senegalese restaurant ´trois etoiles´, not far from the campsite, was recommended. So we went there, tired after our drive of about 14 hours. And what could they offer us here ? Chicken ! Allthough all the chicken we had eaten the last week, the Senegalese chicken was delicious. It was cheap and the service was very fast.

Senegalese restaurants: Senegalese restaurants

by johnsakura

Restaurants owned by people from Senegal usually are more fun than the ordinary Mauritanian one. Always with great music that will make you move your ass while you eat. This is a great experience indeed. Food usually doesnt change much, pasta with meat and green peas, or fish with french fries, or salad with white rice with sauce and fried egg, or Chakri, this is a very nutricional thing made with fresh fruit and milk. kind a mixture of yogurt with milk and fruit.

Le Prince: Avoid this place!

by ummibrahim

When we got to Noakchott we were starving. My husband asked an american there for a decent place to eat. Mind you, we drove 26 hours from Noadhibou in a packed landrover with only tea, biscuits, and Danino yogurt for my son. He said Le Prince would be a good affordable ( we were on a tight budget) place. We got a burger, kabobs, and fries. The meat was not cooked, fries soggy, and EVERYTHING was sopped in oil. I was hungry so I ate anyways. I don't need to tell what happend next. If you are hungry stay away from this place. Unless you are a masochist , then, by all means then go and eat there

The best place was in Atar...

by danielperals

The best place was in Atar where there is an old senegalese who let us sleep in his house if he prepared us the food .He worked in France for some years as a cook and back in his country he started a small business at his house.at christmas he prepared us a mixture of French, Senegalese and mauritanian meal which was delicious.home atmosphere ,eating on the floor. Anything is delicious.Maybe his French pastry.

Low prices.Casablanca: 2500-3500 ougTaskakaraoke: 2500-3500 ougPhenicia: 1000-2000 oug. Gallette with chicken (a kind of soft bread covers the plate and on it an excellent mixture of chicken and vegetables).Try a couple of mauritan recipes

Pizza Hot: It's Not Pizza Hut!

We were so excited to see Pizza Hot but when we got home we were quite saddened to see the contents of our box. The pictures speak for themselves.
