From our way from Nouakchott to the border with Senegal in Djiamba we were stoped 15 times... the police stop asking for passport but they dnot actually care about it. they will quickly change the conversation subject into You giving gifts to them... 15 TIMES!!!

they just want to ask you for a cadeux, a gift. Its ok to give but on your way from Rosso you'll have to stop at least 6 times to police check passports and asking you also for gifts. if you dont give them a thing, they take you diesel...sad but true.
