Why are there 7 colored earths ?
Favorite thing: This is some info that was explained on the sight and I have copied most of the text here from a printed signboard there:
The colored earths is a natural phenomenon that happens, due to decomposed basalt gullies. Anothor factor is the hot and humid climate that leads into the decomposition of the basalt into clay. As a result of the chemical breakdown of minerals by water the soluble elements such as silicic acid and cations are washed, leaving a large composition of iron and aluminium which constitute a ferralitic soil.
The iron sesquioxydes have a red and anthracite colour, whereas the aluminium sesquioxydes have a blue and purplish color.

Diese Naturphänomen ist das Modell des kompletten Auswaschens von Basalten. Das warme und feuchte Klima beschleunigt zusätzlich noch das Umwandeln von Basalt in Schiefer. Die Hydrolyse ist vollkommen abgeschlossen, alle löslichen Elemente, vor allem Kieselsäuren, sind weggewaschen und es bleibt nur noch eine konzentrierte Zusammensetzung von Eisen und Aluminium. Die Eisenmischungen zeigen Anthrazit- und Rottöne, die Aluminiummischungen variieren von Blau bis Violettblau zu Grünblau.

Flora of the mountains
Favorite thing: If you observe the flora of the mountains in Mauritius, you will discover that there are lots of bird of paradise trees. During blooming, the flowers of the trees are very colourful and are shaped like a bird of paradise.

Favorite thing: Another nice photo of myself was taken at the multi-coloured earth at Chamarel, thanks to the good sunlight and a nice chap who helped me to take the photo.

Favorite thing: The monkeys at the Black River Gorges National Park viewpoint are not shy, and you can take a photograph of yourself and the monkey with a nice mountain backdrop.
