victorwkf Says: There are some monkeys at the mountain viewpoint of the Black River Gorges National Park. These monkeys are playful but do not approach so close to them as they will turn aggressive.
victorwkf Says: Because Mauritius is not a very big island, you can have a good view of the coast and sea from some of the viewpoints of the Black River Gorges National Park on a clear day.
victorwkf Says: There are several waterfalls and many green mountains in the Black River Gorges National Park. Generally, the southern part of Mauritius is mountainous whereas the northern part is flat.
victorwkf Says: Besides the famous Chamarel Falls, you can also visit the Alexandra Falls at the Black River Gorges National Park. There is a signboard along the road to tell you where is the waterfall.
victorwkf Says: There is an impressive viewpoint of the mountains of the Black River Gorges National Park along the journey to Chamarel. There are signposts along the road to tell you where the viewpoints and waterfalls are, so you don't have to worry that you will miss them.
victorwkf Says: Another famous nature spot is the multi-coloured earth near to the Chamarel Falls. The natural colours of the earth are very impressive.
victorwkf Says: There are several well marked tracks for trekking in the Black River Gorges National Park for those interested to explore the mountain areas.
victorwkf Says: Along the track to Alexandra Falls, you will see many trees with interesting barks. If you were to peel off the bark and feel it, it feels very soft and it can be made into paper.

victorwkf Says: If you observe the flora of the mountains in Mauritius, you will discover that there are lots of bird of paradise trees. During blooming, the flowers of the trees are very colourful and are shaped like a bird of paradise.
