This dormant volcano crater is found in Curepipe, which is almost in the middle of the Island. Being some 500m high it is a favourite sightseeing place for both locals and tourists alike, as although there is humidity, it is generally cooler than most other parts of Mauritius and therefore an ideal place to stay if you find the coast a bit hot.
From the lip of the Volcano you can get magnificent views all around stretching to the horizon

Curepipe is one of the few major towns in central Mauritius consisting of others such as Port Louis, Quatre Bornes, Phoenix etc. It is located at an altitude of about 500 metres which makes it cooler and more rainy.

Most of the time, the crater is blocked by trees. However, there is a good viewpoint near to a pavillion and you will not miss it if you circle the circumference of the crater.

Curepipe is famous for its college which is the best college in Mauritius. The college is located at the town centre.

From top of Trou Aux Cerfs volcano crater, you can have a very good view of Mauritius and its mountain ranges.

This is a dormant volcano crater which can be reached by driving up to the top of Curepipe town. You can get a taxi or drive your own vehicle. The view from the top of the crater is very beautiful.
