The Spar supermarket in the centre of Flic-En-Flac is situated below ground in the Pasendena Complex. Once inside you will find a variety of goods on sale . The highlight for me was the good supply of freshly baked often still hot bread found at the rear of the shop. The variety of foods seems to cater for all nations with very many common names such as Kellogs, Heinz as well as local brands. It does have an extensive chilled/freezer cabinet area for items such as frozen chicken , fish as well as the local Phoenix beer. Also in the shop area there is a small boutique and an internet cafe. The prices are very fair but obviously a little more expensive than say a real local fish or vegeteble market, but the range is ideal for families who have rented a villa and want to self cater. The only downside is that the entrance is not very inviting and often you may find one or two local inhabitants around there begging for money. But in many areas of Mauritius like other countries in the world the begging for money is something that seems to haunt the tourist areas.
What to buy: The variety of loacal Mauritius bread is excellent from the Spar shop
What to pay: RS 10 - 20 for bread ( french style baguette or like a big SUB in USA terms)
