    Mahébourg doesn't have a beach, but it has a beautiful waterfront. It is very popular for evening strolls and in case you get tired, lots of bench are awaiting you.There's a jetty with a pavillion from with you can see quite some nice tropical fish. Saves you the money to visit an aquarium :).

  • Notre Dame des Anges

    This beautiful colonial church was built in 1849, but has been modified and restored a few times over the years.The gentleman who is in charge of the spire keyes was friendly enough to let me go up there and take some nice photos.

  • Grand River Waterfall

    This waterfall is famous in the eastern region of Mauritius, and can be reached by taking a boat ride. Usually the trip will include the visit to Ilie Aux Cerfs as well.

  • Ilie Aux Cerfs

    Ilie Aux Cerfs is a small island located off the east coast of Mauritius, and is very famous for its beautiful, shallow and sheltered lagoon which is very good for beach activities, swimming, walking in the shallows etc. There are restaurants and pubs here, as well as souvenir shops. This is a must visit if you are in Mauritius.

    The Belle Mare region in eastern Mauritius is famous for its holiday resorts, beachs and a monument of a past air disaster off the east coast.

  • The East Coast of Mauritius

    Compared with the west coast, the sea of the east coast is rougher with strong waves directly from the Indian Ocean. Having said that, there are several places such as Belle Mare and Ilie Aux Cerfs which have natural protection and therefore suitable for swimming.

    There is a British coastal fort at the east coast of Mauritius as you head towards Mahebourg. This fort is just next to the road, so you can drop by to have a look during your journey.

    The imposing figure of Lion Mountain can be seen from the shores of Mauritius. Essentially, the areas surrounding Mahebourg are mountainous especially in the northern part.

    Mahebourg is a beautiful and idyllic seaside town surrounded by impressive mountains. One good thing is that the town is located very near to the Mauritius airport, so this town is worth a visit especially before you head to the airport on your way home.     La Colombe has some great Chinese and Creole dishes. There are lots of seafood dishes on the menue, but Vegetarians like myself do find somethings aswell.
    Service was prompt and prices are very reasonable.
    They have live music on Saturdays.

  • Taxi's charge for Round Trip

    The Taxi's in Mauritius charge round trip fares, for example if one take taxi from (Grand Port) Mahebourg to Port Luis, the taxi will have to come back to its Registration Place empty as they can not get fare in Port Luis, so its better to keep them wait and get back to the base in same taxi, it cost just a little extra for the waiting, there are...

  • Airport of Mauritius transfer to Blue...

    We spent our holiday in Mauritius. We have booked a car in advanced from Pingouin Car Hire. Our car were delivered to us at the airport of Mauritius in time and we were able to reach our villa in Blue Bay. I recommend Pingouin Car Rental in Mauritius.

  • Take the bus!

    The bus station in Mahébourg is located next to the waterfront. There are lots of buses leaving to Port Louis (23Rs), Curepipe (21Rs), Flaq, Blue Bay (14Rs) and other destinations in the Southeastern part of the island. Buses run roughly between 7am and 7pm. The buses to Port Louis and Curepipe (except for the express buses) stop at the airport.

    Favorite thing: I enjoyed my seafood lunch of a red snapper fish at Ilie Aux Cerfs with an open space restaurant and a beautiful view as that shown in the photograph.
