Pamlemousses is about 8km north of Port Louis, so that is doable also by taxi and almost all of the way you will drive on the highway with only some traficjam maybe before you get out of Port Louis.
I came by a sightseeingtour, that was organized by our cruiseship. Pamplemousse is an easy halfday-trip and the main reason to go there is the Botanical Garden !
