Caudran Waterfront by johanl The modern shoppingcentre at the waterfront is called Caudan Waterfront complex. It replaced the old harbourbuildings and is named after a French salesman. Strolling around, visiting the many modern shops and enjoying a meal in one of the many restaurants is a good way of spending an afternoon. Leave a Comment

Company Gardens by johanl The Company Gardens, are situated close to the Natural History Museum. At lunchtime, a lot of people gatter to talk and eat. In the evenings the atmosphere is quite different: the gardens change into a kind of red light district, with prostitues offering their services. BE WARNED Leave a Comment

Musee de la Photographie by johanl The first pictures on Mauritius have been made in 1840. In this very interesting private museum there are lots of things to see. Old so called "daguerreotypes" cameras, thousands of pictures, history and above all, the owner, Mr.Tristan de Bréville, who is a very interesting person. He runs the museum with very little money and has to struggle each day to survive. It would be a shame if this very interesting museum would disappear. So if you around visit and contribute at the same time in order to keep it open. Entrance fee is 4 Euro per person. Leave a Comment

Bluepenny museum by johanl South west of the Caudran Waterfront you will find the Blue Penny Museum. The museum belongs to the Mauritius Commercial Bank and was opened in 2000. It has a very nice collection of art, maps and stamps. The story about the first Mauritian stamp is very well documentated. It really is worth visiting. Leave a Comment

Ten minutes’ drive south of Port Louis, Domaine Les Pailles offers a resT from the crowds and heat of the city. There are five restaurants and lovely grounds to enjoy. You can also take the one hour guided tour in a little train or horse-drawn carriage and learn about the production of sugar and rum on the island. Leave a Comment
