The capital and the hub of all aspect of business for the island. It is a small relaxing town that is a perfect base to tour the island from. There is a movie theatre, various restaurants and stores to keep you busy for a day or two.

Being of volcanic origin, Rodrigues has a few natural attractions such as caves, strange looking rocks that always attract others...and those virgin-like beaches. One of the must see caves would be the "Caverne Patate" (Sweet potato's caves).
Snorkelling was one of my favourite activities during my stay on the island. Just outside the lagoon, the warm and fresh water caresses me. I have never seen fishes so big swimming next to me. At my fiorst attempt I had to go back to the boat but then it seems that you are part of the ocean and wouldn't leave it quite yet...
Apart from the wide range of land and sea based excursions, Rodrigues heartland may be explored on mountain bikes, on foot or even through caves and others will be fascinated by bird watching and other nature "loisirs".

I just get a kick out of these small island airports. Realistically this is where you will arrive on Rodrigues. Considering the location it is a fairly nice airport.

I really didn't know what to expect from this tiny little island. Rodrigues is often described as "Mauritius 30 years ago." This might be true when referring to the level of tourism and exploitation...
