Very good food, both Moroccan and French I had couscous Royale which was very tasty, my wife had steak which she said was the best she had had in a long time. There was Night Club up stairs which looked good and it was centrally located on the main road adjacent to the front.

This relatively cheap restaurant on the square behind the supermarked Uniprix on Boulevard Hassan II calls itself a pizzeria, but also serve local must-have food. But never mind the food. Sit down for a while and talk to the people working here, and soon you´ll have learned more about about Islam, tourism, and the city caught in the middle than you ever imagined doing in the course of one week. Yes, it´s that easy. After Ahmed´s "special" liqueur you really should be heading up into the Talborjt and not down to the beach. That is, if you want to see the real Agadir and not a Canary Islands´ wannabe.
Straight up Tagine is always the way to go, and this is no exception. Leave a Comment Theme: LocalPrice: less than US$10 » Currency ConverterComparison: less expensive than averageAddress: Square behing Uniprix on Boulevard Hassan IIDirections: in the city center

The Banana Beach at Aourir/Tamraght, about 10Km north of Agadir, used to be a very nice restaurant… until… The story goes… My wife and I have been living in Morocco for three years and decided to celebrate at the aforementioned restaurant. After arriving and bidding the waiter a good-day, etc, we found ourselves completely and utterly ignored. As we were in no real rush to eat we allowed a considerable amount of time to pass before we started to suspect something wasn’t quite right. We had visited this restaurant many times previously, always finding the staff to be helpful and extremely pleasant, so we wondered what might possibly be wrong. Fed up waiting, I eventually strolled into the kitchen for a couple of menus, hoping the staff would spot this and react accordingly by approaching us to take an order. We pondered over these and noticed the prices had been considerably raised. We were quite astonished at the new costs, especially as the other local restaurants and café’s prices were much cheaper, in line with what had been before. Anyway, the staff continued to ignore us, carrying on with their daily business, including receiving several Moroccan customers after we had arrived and treating them with supposed VIP status. It’s also the first time I’ve ever seen a waiter sit down at a table to take an order! Whether he knew them or not remains to be seen, but after taking the order from the new groups he hardly went near them again so I guessed not. We continued to wait in patient silence to see what was happening. After a bit longer, I ventured back to the kitchen to see if I could give them an order across the counter instead. The cooks called the known waiter, pointing him in my direction. I asked if I could give him our order, to which he replied with an apology, that the man who was presently taking orders from the recently arrived Moroccan guests was the 'Chief' and it was up to him. This baffled me because we hadn’t seen that particular person before. I returned to my seat, explaining to my wife what I had been told, hoping the order-taking guy would approach my wife and I, especially as the waiter seemed to have mentioned something quietly about us. However, nothing changed, except the waiter wouldn’t make eye contact with us anymore. Then… a couple of young European chaps arrived, quietly sitting down close to the beach entrance. They had a couple of dogs with them and the order-taking guy quickly let them know they weren’t welcome with some sharp-sounding dialogue and a finger-pointing hand at the end of an extended arm. He even took a swing at one of the dogs with his right foot. I suppose the dog must have been expecting that kind of behaviour because it was up and away toot-sweet before the foot made contact. A very clever dog, I thought. We were still not approached. We decided to leave at this point, as this was something we had never expected or wanted for our 3rd anniversary. As we were leaving, the order-taking guy walked briskly past, blurting out a sneering goodbye. I couldn’t believe it. Needless to say we will not be going back. I eventually found out the restaurant had been sold a few days prior to us going there and the current theory is that Europeans may not be welcome. Whatever the real reason, it might as well be on the moon because we shall never, ever, return to that awful, rude and expensive establishment. That’s our dreadful story and experience of that awful place called, Banana Restaurant on the Banana Beach, Tamraght/Aourir, south Morocco. I highly recommend the Devil’s Rock Restaurant instead. It’s barely 400 metres away and is far superior. It now gets our custom instead.
