~ The Spice Store ~ by Heavens-Mirror The Thursday suuq or market of Agadir is a nice day out, as it is totally dominated by Moroccans and has high quality products for sale such as leather, handbags, incense sticks, oils, spices, make up, hats, clothes etc... you name it they have it here. Always haggle the prices though and if you go with a guide dont pay the price they offer as the guide with you will be getting a commission from the store seller. The locals say to haggle to around 50-75% of the original asking price. Address: Agadir

The hotel offer trips to Marrakech for 1500.00 moroccan dirmas per person with over night stay in a hotel. We decided to go on the local bus which cost only 140.00 MAD each for a return tiket by coach. You have to book a ticket the day before you want to travel ,ask at the hotel or the taxi driver and go to CTM bus station in agadir. About 3 quarters of the way there we stoped off at a service station. Here you can use the toilets but you are expected to pay 1 mad, and ladies you have to stand over a hole in the floor. I would surgest having some antibacterial hand wipes when travelling to and around marrakech. We sampled a traditional Moroccan dish where its cooked in a pointed pot (sorry not sure what there called) there is beef in the bottom then on top potatoes, onion and some other veg and i can honestly say it was excellent, very tasty. This dish is eaten with bread and no knife and fork. (See pic 2) Leave a Comment Address: Service Station on way to Marrakech

~ The view from Kasbah ~ by Heavens-Mirror I have heard that the Kasbah of Agadir is one of the worst attractions of the country. There is only walls and a gate and nothing that would attract anyone. And yet many tourists do come here the Moroccans told me. But there is one good thing that it is apparently worth coming for....... the fantastic views over Agadir and the beach. It takes around 20 minutes walking or only 3 minutes in a car.

Bird Valley is located next to Odyssee Park Hotel and is only 15 MAD to enter. Their is more than just the birds to see, thay also have Wallabies, Lamars and some kind of Antelope (see pic.2) whom were a little unsure of us.. We were lucky enough to meet one of the Animal keepers who took is into some of the pen so we could get some better pictures and see the animals closer up. On our first evening in Marrahech it rained all day, we still took a trip to the big market called Djemaa el-Fna, which in spite of the rain was very busy. On our second day we went back to the market when the weather was much better, and i got to see the snake charmers, if you take any photos you will be expected to give them a few moroccan dirams, also if your brave enough you may even hold one. From almost everywhere in town, beach and boulevard you can see or at least get a glimpse of the hill and the kasbah. It's an important landmark. During my first three visits to Agadir I didn't visit the kashab itself. It's a walk of about 7 km uphill. So, the best is to do is going by car or to take a taxi. Anyway up. I saw some people walking back downhill. History of the Kasbah. The ruined kasbah is built in 1540 by the Saadian Sultan Mohammed ech-Cheikh. Later in 1752 the kasbah was restored and regarrisoned by the Alawite Sultan Moulay Abdallah. Later the area is abandoned leaving housing for about 300 people. After the earth quake of 1960 only the ramparts were partially rebuilt. Earthquake. The area below the kasbah, Ancienne Tarborjt, covers the remains of the Agadirs medina after been totally devastated by the earthquake of 1960,now covered by soil and grass. Thousands of people died here by the earth quake. Leave a Comment Directions: The kasbah lies on the hill north-west of the town. You can hardly miss it.

In the southeast of Agadir is a walled market, the Souq al-Had. I visited this place at my first day ever in Agadir. There are many goods for sale like food, herbs, household stuff, clothes. There are also lots of souvenirsstalls. The atmosphere in the Souq is more traditionally Moroccan than in the Central Market area in the modern citycentre of Agadir where you can find also lots of souvenir stalls, the Uniprixsupermarket, shops and restaurants. Leave a Comment Directions: South east area of Agadir
