In the southwest corner of the Jardim de Olhao is a small museum dedicated to the earthquake of 1960. I red that some pictures of old Agadir are displayed here. To visit this museum on my way from the market to my hotel in Nouveau Talborjt was the motive to come to the Olhao Park.
I found the gate closed from the outside, so I took another entrance to the park to try if it was possible to enter from the other side. And that's how I discovered this wonderfully landscaped park with its striking architecture. People told me that the museum was closed or almost is closed every time. So at the end I didnt manage to visit the inside of the museum.

Jardim de Olhao is a great park for leisure. I liked the ambiance of the park by the combination of the special architecture and the landscape design both with natural and organic forms. I also enjoyed the lifeliness at one hand and the relaxed atmosphere at the other hand.
After my walk around I sat for almost two hours at the shady terrace of the the cosy restaurant. Older men were playing chess, but later I saw also a very young couple starting to play chess while ordering a drink.
Behind the restaurant is a colourful childrens playground (picture 2 & 3). It is a very favourite place to visit for families with their kids. Also in the green areas of the park I saw lots of families, women, kids and young couples enjoying themselves.

It was a delight to discover Jardim de Olhao, marking the twinning between Agadir and Olhao. This wonderful landscaped park was only at a 5 minutes walk from my hotel in Nouveau Talborjt.
The park has a nice unexpected naturally looking design with a variety in trees and plants. It's a very relaxing and shady place. Lots of families and youngsters visit the park. It's a lifely place without giving the feeling to be a crowded, also caused by the small differences in heights and hidden corners.
The park is open from 8am till 6.30pm. The entrance is free.

Looking for the small museum dedicated to the earthquake of 1960, I discovered a very special park, Jardim de Olhao. The park marks the historical ties between Morocco and Portugal, more specific the twinning between Agadir and Olhao.
The buildings, walls and structures in the garden have a very unique architecture and design. The combination of original Berber style and Portuguese style is very fascinating. A gallery, library and a lovely cafe-restaurant are built in this style. Together with the landscaping of the park it's a lovely and interesting place to visit.
Opening hours 8am till 6.30pm.

I visited Agadir five times, in 1992, 2000, 2001, 2007 and 2008. All the times when I visited Agadir, I only stayed for a few days, mostly to acclimatize before or relax after trips around. Agadir is...
