WHERE TO GO? A few thoughts... Unless freezing wind is your thing, I personally would avoid the coast for anything romantic travel where you can enjoy the wildness of the Atlantic - because those winds are going to be cold and tough on you. The interior gets really chilly, too. Bring an extra jacket and a lover. If you think one of your lovers is open to it, bring another lover since it is a precautionary move to cure an abnormally low body temperature, the condition of hypothermia. The exception to this is Agadir which has God-sent weather which is generally perfect on it's beaches - all year round.
Heavy sweaters, scarves, winter hats, gloves, thick long pajamas You can also buy all of these things in the sooq or the Marjane supermarkets, while here in Morocco.
Toilet Paper: Toiletries & Medical Supplies: I need to stress that for men and women coming from the west that you keep a roll of toilet paper or something to wipe yourself with at all times. Fes may be a major tourist destination but don't think that means the service resembles Club Med - you are in a city from the middle ages and everything will remind you of that - especially the hole in the floor toilets with the little faucets to wash with near the floor. You will feel more comfortable - don't forget your tissues...
LOOK at all the pictures here (all shot in November) INCLUDING THE WEATHER IN BOTH CELSIUS AND FARENHEIT in Marrakesh, Fes, the mountains...
Camping - heavy blankets, warm sleeping bag,
Prepare for cold weather in most of Morocco - only the deep south will you find warm weather that you could possibly swim in. Buy Sidi Ali or Sidi Harazem bottled water - only from the stores and never from children on trains or buses - carry it with you everywhere.

Bring cash, pounds, etc. Change a nice wad of them at the airport, enough to fuel up if you are driving (350 DH+ a tank) - snacks, etc. There are ATMs in all the major cities and many of the smaller ones. Use them. Don't rely on your credit cards anywhere but the ATMs to make a withdrawl. Understand? Don't think because their is a sticker in the window, or even if the restaurant or hotel said they would take them. (Then you find the machine is not working; i.e, they want the cash) Don't rely on your traveller checks. Period. They approach the category of almost useless at times. CASH! And then ATMs as you need them. Don't take out too much more than you need before you leave since you technically can't leave with Moroccan money. Yeah. I'll get cute with this info another time - I want you take this one seriously.

morocco by johnsakura normal bags, prepare to get them dirty if you're traveling to the desert. sand infiltrates everywhere. for backpackers the usual backpack is ok. if your driving, you can take more stuff with you.
bring old stuff to exchange with people. you can make pretty good deals in the south.
sun cream for the strong sun. pils for the stomach and intestines. aspirins, liquid alcohol, bandages for little cuts,
protect your films with aluminium paper. you can buy films in major cities altouhg you dont know if they are ok and what kiind of transportation they had before (maybe 20 hours under the sun?)
if you're coming with your own veicule bring whatever you think it will make you happy while camping. after you'll see you didnt use half of the stuff of course ha. Leave a Comment

More useful than the Hitchhiker's towel...derra by JamalMorelli The DeRRa - a head cover is all purpose for the ladies. It is a great quick headcover for mountain travel, entering a religious site, a new house or if you want a little inconspicuousness. You can also use it to cover your mouth and nose to filter to scum of Casablanca or Marrakesh's legendary traffic pollution. Take it off an improv a fan like the belles of the south. Hang it somewhere in your home if it's lovely enough...

It's Fes - if it's hot, you don't need much. And if it's cold, buy clothes here. Fes has the greatest crafts on average than any other city, and among these is making clothes. (And yes, they are cheap)
Bring a roll of toilet paper everywhere with you, ladies and gents. Bring two. Bring anti-diarrhea medicine with you. Bring ibuprofen if you don't like aspirin. Bring your own brand of tampons. Bring a fit body.
Digital cameras that fit in your purse - don't get bogged down! There are plenty of places to immmediately get your pics put onto a CD or print.
You can buy tents inexpensively at the Marjanes and just give them away before you leave (or try selling them for souq fun) If you bring them however you can insure the quality in a way Moroccan tent culture can't. Other Contact: Pictures are coming...

The guidebook I found most useful for our trip was Lonely Planet's Morocco. Even though the last update was in 2003, the information it gave was still quite accurate. I'd strongly recommend "See Ouarzazate and Die" by Sylvia Kennedy, a book describing 3 trips the author made to Morocco in 1990. I only found out after our trip that this book was (and perhaps still is) banned in Morocco so hopefully I didn't cause any offence by reading it while there. My guess is the ban came from the negative comments made about Kings Mohammad V & Hassan 1 - criticism of the royals is a big no-no in Morocco. Another book I found useful was The Sheltering Sky by Paul Bowles though not all of it is set in Morocco. Morocco has also featured in many movies though often as a stand-in for other places such as in Gladiator or Lawrence of Arabia. A good film about Morocco is Hideous Kinky, a story about Marrakech in the 70s, with Kate Winslet. Leave a Comment

A Roman town by blint Toilet roll: It's a rare sight in morocco!!!!!! Bring as mush as you can. It's always useful but more so if you fall ill!!. But please remember not to throw it down the hole in the ground as it may couse plumbing problems. Many times there is a bin there. Leave a Comment

Really handy were 2 very lightweight cotton tops. Kept me respectable and cool at the same time.
Once again can;t say enough about Lush's solid shampoo in a tin. Never leaks and really light to carry around
Got a new point and click camera (for those not into those huge black things). It's a pentax espio with 135 zoom. Really liked it.
Must have a sleep sheet. some places that we slept would have made my skin crawl without it. Leave a Comment

Run here in case you get the sh*ts by JamalMorelli In case you get a bad case of the sh*ts...if you feel it coming on, there is no harm in starting your dose early. Remember to drink plenty of bottled water when this happens as you can get seriously dehydrated when you have been spraying crap all day. Take care.
