The true desert man, alone, coming from nowhere, disapeering in the dunes. And altough the Coran protects him, and the temperature hurts him, what is he wearing? SANDALS!!! Be carefull, don't walk on the sand with your feet naked : you can get bitten by a scorpion.

Do not carry too many things, 2 hand bag is recommend, try to wear like a local.Avoid the help of the people to carry things for you, they can fill your bags with hash and other drugs.Do not forget that the moroccans jails are like United Nations, many nationalities insides I know it is hot, but carry long pants (big pockets), like chinos...it is better, and you will avoid problems with homosexuals (a lot everywhere), carry an umbrella, normal shirt, no brands, no adventure wear, normal shoes, like office shoes.Leave everything in the hotel (passports are traded there), even the hotel key.Carry sun glasses, money and the camera, no more, spend walks of 1-2 hours and return to the hotel, take a shower and go to the street again. Carry stuff for headache, mosquitoes, and bottle of water. Morocan food is hot, so it means trouble-free.Carry tissues if you go for a walk long time, or if you...

You wont need much the weather is always hot :-) Remember this is a muslem country so women in pulic should be suitably dressed I found it easier to wear loose long sleeved tops and long sarong type skirts it kept me out of all kinds or trouble Best to bring everything you need with you, We were told to bring our own toilet paper which we did and we left the rolls we had over for the maids, they were happy :-) Again bring what you can, but you can always take a day trip to gibralter and get what you need there, it is so cheap!!!!! Toilet paper honest!!!! the nice soft stuff :-)

PACK FOR SUMMERUnless you are gonna do trekking in the Atlas, put mainly light clothes in your luggage. The weather can be terrible hot, though if you go to the north, in winter can be a bit chilly.

Travel not so light

by xaver

Usually I say, do not bring anything or travel light, as it is the best way to move quikly, but in this case I must say it is quite impossible, infact temperatures in Morocco change a lot from north to south and from day to night. So be sure to have tshirts as to have a jacket for the night and something warm to wear sleeping in the south or the desert.

It's usefull to adjust your clothing to the traditions and costums of Morocco. So, when you are a woman, you better can't wear skirts and shorts above the knee (this also counts for men) and don't wear transparent clothes. If you are dressed properly it's mutch easier to get in touch with the local population. And take a shawl with you when you want to visit a mosque. Sunburn lotion and something against the instects. An extra battery for your camera. Bring a Lonely Planet with you, I don't think I need to explane why.And an other tip, for the people who can read dutch, there is a new travel guide, called TROTTER. In Morocco I met some people who had a Trotter and I thought it was a good book. They have a very refreshing view on things!

Amy wore jeans and t-shirts or sweaters the whole trip (of course it's cooler in February, and cold at night). Recommendations of long, loose skirts and a head scarf seemed out of place -- many of the locals don't dress that way anymore. A travel roll of toilet paper comes in very handy at a Moroccan W.C. A dirham gets you a hole in the floor, but not necessarily any paper. Don't forget the travel Scrabble, cards or something! Not a lot of late-night entertainment in Morocco. The locals are all at home.

Really handy were 2 very lightweight cotton tops. Kept me respectable and cool at the same time. Once again can;t say enough about Lush's solid shampoo in a tin. Never leaks and really light to carry around Got a new point and click camera (for those not into those huge black things). It's a pentax espio with 135 zoom. Really liked it. Must have a sleep sheet. some places that we slept would have made my skin crawl without it.

Try to pack as little as possible. Travelers far too often pack much too much for the trip to Morocco. Believe me, you don't want to be carrying around a heavy backpack in Morocco's hot summer. I think the temperature rose to as high as 115F. while I was there. Make sure you have WATER with you at all times!!! While you can purchase water nearly everywhere in a city, just make sure you have it when going between cities.I also found it helpful to pack some small candies (no NOT chocolate!) to give out to the many MANY kids who will approach you in the cities. A large percentage of Moroccans are poor and beggars abound. While I myself didn't have the money to pass around, I found passing out candy to the children to be a very rewarding compromise.

It gets pretty cold at night in the dessert, while during daytime its very hot. Dont forgett to bring it all. Have ALWAYS toiletpaper with you. You might be able to buy it, but you wont find it in restaurants, stations nor hotels. They use water. Watch out if your at the station... ordering food... the personal too is using the water to clean their ... Bring a lipstick that smoothens your lips if you go in the dessert. Bring Alcohol. Hard to find/buy. If you dont drink,.. bring it anyway,... great item to use for swap-transactions.
