Jorf Lasfar harbour, bird's eye

by JLBG

Jorf Lasfar harbour is 110 km south to Casablanca, 150 km North-East to Safi and has been designed for cereals tankers, ore tankers and general trade. It has been build from nothing and the shelter is entirely artificial after several jetties and breakers were built.

Jorf Lasfar harbor is busy and plays a main part in the economy of it's hinterland which, until its construction had no outing for its productions. It has good road connections with Casablanca, with Safi and with El Jadida.

A dozen kilometers south to El Jadida, this artificial harbor has been especially built as a phosphate terminal. Morocco has no oil and phosphate is the main income of Morocco, far before tourism. This why a port have built here, the closest to the phosphates mines.
