Grilled kefta with onions

The tajine was good, but for three, that was not much for three hungry travelers. I succeeded ordering grilled meat. Half a kilo (that's how you have to order). The guy rushed to the neighbouring butcher, came back with mashed flesh that he mixed with spices and put on the charcoal with onions. By the time we had finished the tajine that was done. It tasted great !

First a beef tajine

No one spoke French and I had to collect my basic knowledge of Maghrebian Arab (dialectal Arab), to get something to eat. Of course, no choice, we have to take the tajine that was waiting for us. Or for anybody else ! Very tasty beef tajine for three with potatoes and carrots. It looks yummy, doesn't it ?

Ready for dinner

Let us check ! The charcoal is burning. There is a free table (and even chairs !) available under the shade. That should be OK for dinner ! Most probably, everything will not be perfectly clean but we are hungry and have always been happy (and never ill) with this kind of unsophisticated and untouristy restaurant.

Ouled Ghanem is a quiet little village on the road to El Jadida . The public lights are powered by solar panels that you can see on top of each stand. Under the arcades, there is some smoke ! That clearly means that it should be possible to have dinner !

Mint tea

Once again, I had to put together my knowledge of arab to get one mint tea, as my companions did not want any. I got one kettle of burning mint tea ... with three glasses. NOP, I sipped all three, one mouthful from the first, then from the second and after from the third and back to the first until none remained.

Note the elegant plastic water pot we had on the table (no bottled water available !); The bread (on the right) was very very good.
