Street Scene, Essaouira by suvanki Lightweight sturdy luggage if staying a while, A daysack if just there for the day.
As always, comfy shoes- there's plenty to see, - some of the pavements, steps etc can be uneven or slippery- so flatties with a good grip. Loose cotton silk or linen clothing - it can be hot and humid in Summer. A lightweight jacket , fleece or jumper -the evenings can be a bit nippy at times.
- Sunscreen is a must- even though I was there in January, the sun was quite hot. -All essential medications- there are pharmacies, but not sure what they stock. - wet wipes, tissues, antibacterial hand gel- not all washrooms are equipped, or clean! - immodium etc- just in case! - plus rehydration salts. - throat pastilles - apparently the damp atmosphere can be condusive to sore throats!
Everything you can carry! Essaouira is a photographers paradise. The sunlight can be very bright, bouncing off the whitewashed buildings and paving- so filters etc might be handy. A zoom lens, for less intrusive pics of local life
Windsurfing is popular here- so there are some specialist shops. There is a long sandy beach- though it is quite exposed- to the elements , as well as 'curious' onlookers - so 'decent' bathing gear etc.
Mp3 player with recording facillity- to capture the 'local sounds' Favourite brands of alcohol- cigarettes etc. Alcohol isn't always freely available- and hotel bars sometimes close early. The local beers are quite good, and the wine was drinkable. Binoculars for views from Skala du Port etc. Bubble wrap - there are some good cheap pottery shops here Leave a Comment

LONELY PLANET MOROCCO by matcrazy1 Sun glasses, a hat or something to protect your head against the sun.
Sun protection cosmetics of well known companies are available but more expensive than in Europe (Spain), local ones are of lower quality.
Films for cameras (Kodak and Fuji) and for movie cameras (Video8, Hi8) available, usually a bit more expensive then in Europe (Spain).
Good travel books: 1. Lonely Planet Morocco (I had Polish and French one) 2. Michelin Maroc (I had Guide de Tourisme in French) Others: 1. The Rough Guide to Morocco 2. Fodor's Morocco. Leave a Comment
