This little city in the middle of the oasis desert boasts for decades a movie studio where scenes from huge Hollywood successes such as Lawrence of Arabia, Star Wars and some french like Asterix&Obelix were shot.
The studio in itself is not very impressive and most people go there just to see where star worked.
The guided tour lasts about 1 hour.

"Yellow city" I would call it. It impressed me by quiteness, compare to Marrakech, and also by more friendly people. Take the tour inside the labirint f peoples' houses. Our guide showed us the artificial house, built in between real ones, he told us that they it was used to shoot the part of a movie with Jean Claude Van Damme.

In the High Atlas mountains there are some peaks more than 4000 mt high. While travelling from Ouarzazate to Marrakesh I passed through wonderful mountain landscapes and I could still see some snow on the highest peaks. Amazing, in summer! (much more snow, and even skiing is possible, in winter).

I suggest you visit the gorges early in the morning as it can get really hot (at least in summer, when I visited). Look out for scorpions, especially if you climb the rocks: there are many and they can be poisonous.

The Todra gorges are 15 km from Tinerhir, a dull town 100 Km east ogf Ouarzazate. It can be difficult to arrive here by public transportation, but it's really worth the time. The main Todra gorge is magnificent, 10 meters wide and hundreds of meters high. There are palm trees growing between the rocks as there is a source of water. The landscape around here is really wonderful.

Tamegroute is still an important religious centre and there is a famous sanctuary dating back to the 13th century. There is an ancient library inside and tourists are allowed to visit. Many walls and doors are nicely decorated.

Tamegroute is a village about 20 km south of Zagora. It has been for centuries an important religious and cultural centre and there are still many reminders from the glorious past. The architecture of the village is quite nice, like a big kasbah with many traditional buildings.

Zagora is about 100 km south of Ouarzazate. It not such an interesting city, but people are friendly and the Sahara is near. There was a sand storm when I was visiting and it was amazing. There are many attractions nearby, like Tamegroute, the Draa valley and the first sand dunes further south.

Modern Ouarzazate is the administrative center of the region and it is not an interesting city to visit. But about two kms from the town center you can easily walk to the old Kasbah, a fascinating deserted place with old traditional houses made of stone (uninhabited, now) and narrow winding streets.
