Sugar comes in big cones here, and it was included in the trade goods carried by caravans. If you wanted to marry a Tuareg girl, you gave her family a sugar cone. If they kept it, they were willing to talk to you about it.

When we just had finished our day trip to the somewhat disappointing Gorges du Todra, we happened to be in the middle of a wedding photo shooting.
