Favorite thing: Ours was a lunch stop but instead of heading for the restaurant for an hour as the others did, I took to the pavement – or rather the rubble of a pavement at that time – and decided to see what Larache was all about. Again being female, blonde and alone, I did attract the usual curiosity.

Favorite thing: Larache is fairly mild during the winter. An average temperature would be around 15C. Summers do not get too hot because of the ocean breezes which come in to cool. The rainy season is from November to February. On the whole the temperatures are very pleasant.

MAIN STREET OF THE MEDINA, LARACHE

Favorite thing: Although the old Arab town (the medina) of Larache was small I got lost there. Streets were not straight there (except the main one on my picture). They bended and twisted in every direstion. Fortunately there was practically no hustling in Larache. I was asking locals for directions a few times and they were always very helpful although they mostly couldn't speak English (but French).

Favorite thing: If you are looking for an ATM, there are quite a lot of the major banks and they can be found either on Place de la Liberation or on Ave Mohamed V.

Larache is a summer Atlantic resort very popular among Moroccans, I was told. I found a lot of Spanish influences from the period of colonisation in Larache's medina. Add whitewashed houses, blue...
