The Cheff is just an incredible Character, it really deserved the experience. You do not choose the food you are going to eat, he just talks with you and decides what you will eat, also will tell you about your health ;-) and will show you herbs and oils good for everything

    100% recomendation!

Near the Mintza hotel, stairs down to the Zoco, You can easily miss it!

  • It is dificult to find, go out of the Medina in direction to the Mintza Hotel (Bol Pasteur) until you arrive to the Terrasse of the Paresseux, cross the street, walk down and turn the second street on the righ and the first on the left and here we are!

Full of locals eating there, fresh fish and meat, Great choice specially the prices a 100% suggestion

Ask for the harira soup and a sandwiche, they do it of Tuna or Kafka (minced meat), I would suggest to ask them not to put mayonaise, the rest is great food and really good priced!!!

  • Ask a local of somewhere to eat, you're more likely to eat something traditional. Just remember to drink bottle water with the seal unbroken and make sure you see them break the seal infront of you.

  • When we went to Tangiers there were about six other tour groups on the same ferry as us, and we all ended up at the same restaurant at the same time, so we all ate the same for-tourists meal. This included a starter of beef or lamb shish kebab and a type of clear soup with cheese and egg, followed by chicken served with cous cous and vegetables. For dessert there was a sweet, sticky pastry. I sampled it all, even though I am normally a vegetarian, and nothing was too strongly spiced or very different from Western cuisine. The meal was included as part of our package.

The dessert, and drinking Coke from a bottle with the name written in Arabic.

The breakfast is included at the price of the room (around 450 dirhans = 45 euros), it is not very original if you stay more than a few days and it consist in a dish with a piece of bread, butter, jam, a croissant a Danish pastry and a chocolate croissant. It sounds good but they are small ones and not really tasty and sometimes hard. Better not talk about the coffee served in thermos, I would suggest to ask for the tee…

But the best is the room where you have the breakfast. First of all you go to reception and go direction to the exit, just before turn right and follow the corridor of the coloured windows and turn right. Here you will get lost at the corridors full of old doors and windows and other old stuff, walking around the patio. Take the stairs up to the first floor and on your right is the “Alhambra room” (as I call it) where breakfast is served.

HARIRA I just love this soup of peas, it is very strong, and a little spicy, just great.

TAJINES This can be with chicken, lamb and other meats, everyone makes it differently, mainly is an stew lovely cooked in a special ceramic pot

CUSCCOUS Most of us we have heard about this dish, maybe the most international one. A really heavy meal that consists in boiled/ steamed vegetables and meat with semolina.

    Hotel El Minzah: Morocco Restaurant

  • When we planned going to Tangier for the weekend, one of the options was this hotel, more expensive but more stars. But staying at the Hotel Continental was a great decision as Hotel Minzah is too modern and do not have the spirit and atmosphere of the Continental.

Not far from city centre just North of Grand Zoco at walking distance, they have two restaurants, one morocco cuisine and another one with international one. A nice terrace to seat in the evenings with guitars music.

As Olga suggested, we went for a dinner at the Morocco one that they had music and dances, well it was music all night but only five minutes belly dancing (and we had seen recently in Verona Meeting many better ones ;-)))) and another 2 minutes of another typical dance. But I would repeat again, the food was incredible, here you could order wine or beer (not like in the hotel at the Medina) and the decoration and atmosphere had a 10/10.

We miss it this time, but if you go try the Cuscus, it looked great!

    Veggie Pizza!

I am sure I will recieve derogatory comments about this tip (as I did on my Jordan page!) But yes, we went to Tangier and ate in Pizza Hut.

It was very surprising the obvious difference in wealth between the people of the medina, and the relative moneyed people in Pizza Hut with the BMW & new Mercs the customers pulled up in.

Salad bar, and vegetable feast pizza, Yummy! They seemed to have the standard or very similar menu here has that have in every other Pizza Hut I have been too.
