If you arrive by plane, you will find the airport (Boukhalef – TNG) around 13kms from the city. No buses operate from the airport so you will need to take a taxi which will take around 20 minutes. Airlines that fly into Tangier are Iberia, British Airways, Easyjet, Ryanair, Regional Airlines and of course Royal Air Maroc.

If you plan to arrive to Morocco, there are 3 main international airports: Casablanca, Agadir and Tangier. Tangier airport is just outside the city and I can not help you in relation with prices or ways to get to Tangier as I always arrived by ferry
for flights check on the following companies: British Airways, Lufthansa, KLM, Air France, Alitalia, Sabena and Swissair. Also Royal Air Moroc and Atlas blue

Petit taxi which is small as the name suggests, and blue. This type of taxi will only take you within the city limits. If you want to go further then you will need a grand taxi which is often and old model mercedes. Both are in plentiful supply and very cheap but the grand taxi is probably double the cost.

If you arrive by ferry then you can take one of the CTM buses which are stationed at the CTM bus station at the port gate.
If you are arriving from elsewhere in Morocco then CTM and other buses will arrive at the Place Jamia el-Arabia bus station

You can reach Tangier by a fast ferry from Tarife in Spain which is only around 14kms across the Straights of Gibraltar. If you want to take the ferry over to Spain for the day or even from Spain to Morocco, you will need to book on FRS Fast Ferries. You can travel as a passenger or take your car. The one way trip will take around 35 mins and depart from Tangier’s Port every 2 hours starting at around 9.00am through to about 11.00pm.
The ferries are very comfortable with two levels to wander about on. There is a bar and café for light meals and snacks as well as a small duty free shop. There are also toilets which can be free or not depending on whether a staff member is on hand.

If you are travelling from Marrakech, there is an overnight train you can catch. There is also a daily service to Fez. The couchette option is usually the cheaper way to go. Not that trains are expensive anyway. The ONCF train service is comfortable and efficient. There is a new train station in Tangier which is at Tanger Ville. It will probably take you around 7 mins by taxi to the port area.

If you are driving to Tangier you will have either arrived from Tarifa in Spain where you will go through normal customs/immigration procedures or from another city within Morocco. If you are travelling from Marrakech it will take around 7 hours. You will also pass through Tolls on your way. The roads are pretty good between the major cities.

We took the ferry from Tarifa, Spain to Tangier, a distance of 14 miles which took 50 minutes. trip on a huge modern ferry to . The ferry was large and modern, having cafes, duty free store etc etc. Cars and other vehicles are transported, they just drive up the ramp into the belly of the ferry.
The trip was very smooth with a rough patch for 5 minutes as we travelled through the section where the 2 oceans meet.
Bring your Passport as it is required by Customs on leaving Spain and By the Moroccan Customs on arrival in Tangier.

After completing Customs and Passport requirement at Tangier's we walked onto the car park to be greeted by a fleet of tour buses and some local transport.
It is a busy place and if you are on tour listen to and obey your tour guide, otherwise there is a good chance you will get lost.

Our return to Spain was by ferry with our destination port being Algeciras. Our ferry was similar to the one which brought us to Tangier, however the route was different and the trip took 90 minutes, arriving at 2:30pm , after moving our watch forward by 2 hours.
Again the ferry transfer went like clockwork and we enjoyed a calm crossing.
From Algeciras we quickly drove to Gibraltar.
