St Andrews Church
Very related to the above tip about Michael Palin.
St Andrews is a 19th century Anglican church in the heart of Tangier.
Expat congregation numbers are very small, down to 15 or so.
But the church is livened up at the 11am Sunday service when many people from the sub-Saharan countries come along. Apparently its a constant stream of people coming in an out throughout the service, with the sound of ringing mobile phones being common place.
One of the more unusual features of St Andrews is the Lords Prayer written in Arabic on an archway behind the Altar. (It can be seen in the background, lit up in the photo).
Mustapha, featured in the photo is available to give you a tour of the church.
Have to admit I am not a religious person myself, but St Andrews is a familiar haven in a very foreign city, and a lovely break from the hustle & bustle of Tangier
St Andrew's Church
Lies west of the Grand Socco. We visited this church on a Sunday it was truly a oasis in this area of Tangier, we were presented with a cross made out of palm leaf did not have the hart to tell them i am a non believer.
