A walking tour is a must. Join a group with guide to have more informations and avoid hassles. The Kasbah and Medina story are very interesting. During the tour, though, there are young boys and men offering you and selling different kind of things don't be bothered, they're polite anyway. Just ignore them and it is for them alright. If you pay attention and tell them you don't need anything, no problem as well, and they even wish you a good day and a nice stay in Tangier!

Our tour starts from Tangier Port. We had two guides in one bus, English speaking Muhammed and Spanish speaking Ahmad. We headed along the main street, passing by the popular cafes-the gathering point of the locals, the modern area of the town, Place de France and up into the hills of the "California" district ( the Beverly Hills of Tangier), passing by by the governor's and the king's palace. On that day, red flags were up because the arrival of the King of Morocco was expected. Both our guide were genial.

I can't imagine how to to ride a dromedar or an Arabian camel until i did it msyelf ;) It was exciting and we had real fun with new friends met on the way. Don't hesitate, try at least once.....there is no dromedar or camel back home. For an euro or two, you can make the owner happy and your heart as well.

It is with no doubt, the city's main attraction. The fortress was built on the highest point in Tangiers and has excellent views over the Straits of Gibraltar and neighboring Spain. Here you can see two continents at once.
Within its gates lies a large open courtyard, which leads you up to the Dar el Makhzen - the Sultan's palace from the 17th century, that now serves as a museum. The building is stunning. Inside you'll see some beautifully carved wooden ceilings and a marble courtyard. There is also a museum devoted to Moroccan arts and archeology. The road up to the top of the hill is very steep, but the views are amazing and incredibly colourful.

After researching the idea of a day trip into Morrocco over the internet prior to our honeymoon to the Costa del Sol and really finding very mixed reviews I decided to ask the concierge at our hotel if he recommended it and he said definitely. So we boarded our tour bus with about 40 other tourists to our drive to and then ferry ride across the Straight of Gilbratar for several hours in Tangier Morrocco. What a GREAT time we had!

Avenue d'Espagne/Place de la Marche Verte, in front of the port (main pic), rue de la Liberté (2nd pic), Boulevard Pasteur area (3rd pic): All these areas are close to the Medina and have their own flavour.

4 They smell poorly, not sure why anyone would ever fall in love with them. THey have buck teeth, they are built funny, but we had fun. We decided that we had to ride a camel just to experience it, and I can tell you it is a weird sensation when the thing tries to get up, you feel like you are going to fall off and once it is up, it is ........high!%f%x*

A beautiful view of the Atlantic and Mediterranean. On days that aren't windy, you can actually see where the two bodies of water meet.
If you like panoramic views, it's worth the taxi ride. Also, the drive up there is through the very wealthy part of Tangier, along the side of a hill. The drive alone is worth it.

we were lucky enough to meet a local who had worked in egland for some time and who enjoyed the opportunity to perfect his english. He invited us to smoke hasish with him and his friends, a mellowing and relaxing experience. remember, Tangier is a pissheads nightmare, with hasish being the main method for release. If you do get chatting to locals they will offer you the chance to try, so make sure you do coz they wont have any beers!
