This ancient palace of the sultan was established under the kingdom of Moulay ismail and it knew different expansions through the next centuries. This palace has very beautiful apartments dressed in carved mosaic and plaster and it is decorated with a patio bordered by marble columns.
Nowadays the building shelters the museum of Moroccan Arts as well as an archaeological collection coming essentially from volubilis.

Acquired in 1821, this building is the most ancient foreign legation of the united States. The museum gather together documents relating to the American-Moroccan relations from 1976, memorable date for Morocco which was the first country in the world who recognised the independence of the new American state. There are exhibited here different collections: furniture, ancient doors, maps, pictures. In this place, the united forces prepared in 1942 the landing in North Africa.

After our walk through the Kasbah, and the carpet and spice demonstrations, we got back on the bus and driven to a spot out of the city to where the camels were. For a fee ( one Euro ) you could get on the camel, ride around for a few minutes and have your picture taken. This was a fun part of the tour and of course Hans got on one. When the Camel stands up, it first uses its forelegs and you lurch backwards and then it uses its hind legs and then you lurch forward. Too funny!!
YAHOO!!! RIDE THOSE CAMELS

The Kasbah museum is located in a former Palace at Place de la Kasbah, the highest point of the city, at the northern end of the medina. The museum contains Moroccan arts with exhbitis such as traditional furniture, pottery and musical instruments.
The palace building itself is far more interesting than anything it contains. It was built by Moulay Ismail in the 17th century and the exhibits are on show in its various apartments and salons.
The entrance fee is 10 Dh, a standard charge for museums in Morocco.

Once you leave the Zocco, follow Boulevard Pasteur and at the end when you get to the Boulevard of Mohammed V you will see this terrace with the canyons. The views from here are just incredible, specially in winter that there is no fog. This place is always full of locals trying to clean your shoes or do a photo or the kids asking for money, but that’s part of Tangier life.
