The Souk marketplace is wonderful for bargains and shopping and food. However, hire a guide for a very reasonable price and you won't get ripped off or bothered by beggars.

This was part of our walking tour through Tangier. Two guys pull a Cobra out of a box, play a flute and drums for about 30 seconds and of course want 'A little tip'.

In the center of the city - there were 2 older men with snakes... they didn't do any charming - they just held the snakes and allowed you to take pictures for tips!
