 iwys Says:  Taroudannt is a walled city. Its walls were built in the sixteenth century by the Saadians, when it was briefly made the capital of Morroco. They obviously expected a great future for the city, as the walls are 6km long: even longer than Marrakech's. 

 iwys Says:  Taroudannt's tannery is a dirty, smelly place, just outside the city walls, where you can see men scraping bits of fat off of goat, sheep, cow and camel skin, and leather being cured in pigeons' droppings. Probably best not to visit just before lunch. The workers there are...

 angiebabe Says:  Most travellers to Morocco cotton onto the fact that the carpet shop thing in Morocco is on overkill - the country is flooded with carpet shops and carpets - for a country with a lot of people that dont have a particularly high level of tertiary education to aim for higher... 

 iwys Says:  All manner of leather goods are on sale at the tannery shop. There are jackets, handbags and shoes made out of cow, sheep goat, camel and even snake skins. There is less of the hard sell here than in Marrakech, so you'll probably leave, as I did, without buying anything.

 khattabi_eg Says:  The Tannery is a favourite place for tourists to go and see. The leather goods prices are very reasonable and sure you can tell when the price you're told is expensive. The tannery of Taroudant is located outside of the gate called Bab Targount, easy to find.
