Tickets are around 15 dirhams plus 5 dirhams for luggage.

Please use prices as a rough guide only.

Tetouan CTM bus station is on the corner of Rue Sidi Mandri & Rue Moulay Abbas at the bottom of the hill.

    Touts at CTM bus station

by earthflyer Updated Mar 13, 2010 316 reviews

Please be aware of the touts at the CTM bus station.

When I arrived into Tetouan bus station I was harrased while walking through the station. The Moroccan was using very bad western language for which I've not seen anywhere in Morocco before. He wanted me to come and stay at his hotel but we all know they hike up the prices to get comission when they see tourist. I held my nerve but could quite easily drop my bags and hit him becasue he was so aggressive but he soon gave up with the abusive langauge and walked away, but the experince had left a bad mark on Tetouan for me and I had more problems with touts up in the town. I was glad to leave the next day and proberly will not return back here again.

Hope you have better arrival than me.

The bus station is on Mouly Abbas Street, next to Marche central. There is a storage facilities at the site. it will cost you 8 dh to keep your bag at this place. This station is for all companies.

There are 2 nearby grand taxi. One of them for the night, near the gas station. When you get out of the bus station turn left and you'll see the gas station. The bigger station for the day time is further down the road. When you get to this Gas station head down hill on the opposite direction and you'll see the grand taxi station.

There is new bus station outside of town. It seems ready to function.

You can also buy a train ticket to destinations around Morocco. The ONCF office is located on rue 10 of May near hotel oumaima. The Supratours bus services will take you to a train station south of Asilah

  • Getting to and around Tetouan

by RitaBro Written Sep 23, 2008 1 reviews

I travel to Tetouan often and have tried various methods at getting there. I have flown to Fes and drove the 4 hours through stunning scenery, well worth a try if you have the time. On route you will drive past the stunning mountain village of Chefchaouen.
Direct flights to Tangier are available from the UK, but can be quite costly and it may be more cost effective to fly indirect with Ryanair and Easyjet, via Paris or Madrid.
Another method is to either fly direct to Malaga and get the bus or hire a car and travel down to Algeciras where you will find many ferry companies that travel to Tangier (45 mins from Tetouan) or Cueta (20 mins from Tetouan). There are fast ferries that take about 45 mins to slower ones that tend to travel in all weather that take 2-3 hours.
There are not many websites that deal mainly with the North of Morocco but I found a useful website that seems to concentrate on the North of Morocco called http://www.simplymorocco.com/index.html

I hope you find this useful and that you grow to love the area as much as I do.

    Regards

    Rita

Baggage storage at the local bus station

A very handy piece of info is that Tetouans bus station which is a pretty busy one being an important arriving and departure centre for Tangier, Ceuta, Asilah and Chefchouen with buses arriving and leaving frequently throughout the day, has a baggage storage facility where for only 5 dirham you can leave your bags and go off and see Tetouan if you are wanting to see the place without staying the night.

This can include a visit to Martil as well which is a nice seaside town about 5 km away with a lovely beach of white sands and good reputation for good seafood - which was okay when we were there to try it.

Ask around and you will eventually find someone who can speak english, unless you do speak french or spanish and you will be likely to find someone easily to speak to, to clarify what times approximately the buses leave for your next destination. to give you an idea of how long to stay in Tetouan. At least 2 hours to see say the unesco heritage mediina and the archelogy museum and maybe head up to a higer vantage point from up near the old fortress for a look over the town and valley below.

As usually they have an estimated time but then wait till the buses are full enough before leaving.

    Buses, taxis, on foot...

    DONKEY TRANSPORTATION :-)

Tétouan or Tetuán is located in northern Morocco, near the Mediterranean Sea, 40km (25mi) south of Ceuta (Spain) and 60km (37mi) southeast of Tanger. I arrived to Tetouan from Ceuta by own car. The road was of surprisingly good quality and almost empty early in the morning.

    Other options:
To: good transportation by buses (cheap) and shared taxis (more comfortable). Buses can connect you to the train running south from Tangier.

    Around: walking.

    EuroFerry from Algeciras to Ceuta.

    EuroFerry

I crossed the Strait of Gibraltar on a EuroFerry which was very quick and the boats were clean and pleasant to travel on. There was food and a first class section as well on the ship. An affordable way to go. Once you get to the Moroccan boarder there are plenty of Mercedes Taxi's if you are not travelling on a bus tour. Be warned this is a military zone, no pictures are allowed and smuggling any goods is not advisable.
