I don't like dining alone, especially in formal restaurants, so a cheap cafe with quick service is ideal for me. Around the market area are several outdoor grill stalls, where you can get bits of meat and seafood grilled to order...it helps if you know the Arabic or French for offal, unless you like surprises! Anyway, some of these grills had proper seating, and it was fairly atmospheric in the early evening, smoke and steam wafting through the many hungry customers lit up by a bright red sky. Around the corner are several streetside cafes for your after-dinner mint tea, the ones right behind the market quite popular with Moroccans as well as tourists, so fine for women, while the ones further up the hill more male and raucous with many an animated card game in progress.

We stayed at Suerte Loca but thought the food mediocre and at the top end of budget pricing. At Biz Art, down a side street of Avenue Mohamed V, about 4 or 5 streets down from the post office, we had a tasty beautifully presented full meal for 45 dms. As with most places in Sidi Ifni you must order a few hours in advance. I did that but went back after I changed my mind - I wanted fish but was told that despite being on the coast the sea around is not very good for fish - that was no problem. The owner, who spoke very good English was very helpful and was happy to prepare something that was not on his menu, I’m a fishetarian. Nice meal, nice atmosphere, thoroughly recommend Biz Art.

Most restaurants in Ifni like you to order well in advance. If you're in a hurry a good place to go is the row of cafes and shops on Avenue Hassan II, by the old airstrip. They serve cheap fast food - roast chicken and chips and such like. For a couple of dollars I was given a plate of tuna, salad, onions, a bowl full of fresh fries, half a roast chicken, a plate of olives, and a loaf of bread!

Along with the Suerte Loca this is the most fashionable hang out in Sidi Ifni. Candlelight, walls covered in photos and travel posters, the great CD collection ("Music is my drug" as one of the owners told me). Oh and the food is superb too.
At about 7 dollars a main ($11 for 3 courses) it's not the cheapest meal you'll have in Morocco but it could well be one of the best. There's a small menu of traditional Moroccan favourites - lemon chicken, tagine, couscous etc. The free starter - masses of bread, sundried spicy tomatoes, olive oil - is a meal in itself . They also do good breakfasts of omellettes, fresh juice and coffee. The food is good but again the best thing is the service and friendly staff.
Favorite Dish: The best dish I had was a Red Fish Tagine - a touch heavy on the salt but absolutely delicious.
