We liked the colours of the area round Tafraout. Not only the colours of the natural landscape, but also of the buildings in the villages.
The most Berber villages have nice earth colours in ocre, umber, red and pink and are in perfect harmony with its surroundings.
The houses of Tafraoute in the contrary are painted in a red colour. It looks also very lovely with the pink granite at the background.
The rockformations and the palmtrees are a perfect ambiance for a walk or a picnic in the shade of the trees.
We liked the varied landscape at a large scale, but we discovered here also a lot of variation at a small scale.
And if you like, it's easy to climb the pink rocks.
The area around Tafraoute is nice for walking. The forms of the pink granite rocks are very special. They look sometimes like a series of cascades, geysers solidifying as they fall.
One formation looks like a lion and 3KM from Tafraoute is the village of Aguerd-Oudad with the formation known as the Hat of Napoleon. This is also the village where the blue painted rocks are.
