It is not just in one place:): Tajine

by Fanija

You should try tajine - this word goes both for a traditional dish as well as a special pot for making the dish. It is traditional and popular so you don't have to go just to one special place. It looks like a huge pot as i mentioned before, and in the middle of it there is meat (in our case it was chicken) and different vegetables are placed on it and all around it including wonderful potatoes, carrots, peas and olives. You eat it with your hands (if you protest this kind of eating, please, forks and knives are served) helping yourself with pieces of bread using them in some kind like spoons. We tried it twice and it wouldn't be me if not misunderstanding the way you should eat it!It appeared you always start from one side of the bowl and eat until reaching the meat which is left for the end of the meal. Of course, i didn't know that and dug out the meat first:)Maybe for you it is helpful...

Cafe Panorama: One of Our Best Meals in Morocco

by triciadaouros

This was a new restaurant, we were the only patrons there at the time. There was no menu the waiter/cook told us what he was making that day. The food was amazing although it was a little a bit of a wait for it since it was all made fresh. One other thing is the restaurant was spotless. We loved the berber omlette because the vegetables were so fresh and full of flavor.

Indian Ocean: Indian resturant - Agadir

by chavez

The Indian Ocean is in Agadir on the road that runs parallel to the beach. You can't miss it. Apart from the guy who runs the place everything else was excellent. The food was what I would call traditional indian food. If you ever go there, ask for the Indian tea. It is beautiful. Will cost you 15 Dirhams - 1 Pound sterling.A meal there would set you back around 80 Dirhams, about a fiver and don't get the soft drinks, a can of pepsi cost 15 Dirhams when you can buy the same for 5 dirhams. The resturant is clean and staff (the moroccan are very friendly).Sorry no picture. Indian Tea.

Mint Tea

by tini58de

Mint tea - or thé de menthe is the national drink in Morocco. Whereever you go you will be able to get a glas or a pot of mint tea. Oftentimes you can also see stalls at the market where you can buy bundles of fresh mint to make your tea at home!Even when it is hot, a hot mint tea is perfect to soothe your thirst!Try it by all means!

Traditional food

by tini58de

Tagine is the name for the typical triangular earthen pots where the stews of vegetables and meat are being cooked. You lift the lid and aaaaaaaaaaaah - there is the wonderful smell of the "tagine". You can order tagine either just as a vegetable stew or as a veggie stew with either chicken or lamb.Near Ouarzazate we had a fabulous tagine with lamb - truly delicious!!

Fast Food

by tini58de

Morocco is a country of great tradition, but modern times are here, as well. In many places you can find fast food chains such as the one in the picture - so for all of you who like to have their "traditional" food, just look for the big M and don't worry about the Arabic writing! none!

Try the sheep's head.....

by Bali-Babe

Try the local delicacy in Morocco, sheep's head, which can be found at the food vendor stalls in the square in Marrakech. The eyes are never eaten though! They will also serve the sheep's utters if you are feeling adventurous....... yum yum!

Marrakesh main plaza: Open market

by StephanB

Every day at the main square in old town Marrakesh the food vendors make there way to the plaza to set up their food stalls. They carry their carts in and prepare the food for the night ahead. You can get a full meal (tangine, kebabs, veggies, couscous, etc.) for about 4-5 US dollars. The meals were as good as you would find in most restaurants and the atmosphere was pretty cool. We heard about some restaurants that were supposed to be incredible, but a meal would cost you 40-50 bucks. My wife, little girl and myself ate at the outdoor stalls and small street vendors for 2 weeks and never got sick once.

CHOCOLATE CAKE!!! at Casablanca Airport

by bangkokjim

Not a real restaurant but a small place at Mohammed V airport in Casablanca. There is a small fast food looking place on the ground floor of Casablanca ( Mohammed V airport) which has a chocolate cake ( brownie?) to DIE FOR! ( mind you the sandwiches near the chocolate cake are something TO DIE OF ! I had a piece of this cake and was having dreams of it on my flight! If anyone goes through Casablanca airport and comes across this place with the chocolate cake DO TAKE IT and also dream of it on your flight! Tell me about it ( your opinions, experiences) when you get a chance!
