Of course, the main thing you will see then will be billions of stars all over your head. I must admit i had never seen so many in the sky. I was offered to sleep in a tent but after being given around ten blankets (ok, i had exaggerated about my feeling cold at night and in the end could hardly move in order not to lose the hill built all over myself:))) prefered staying outdoors. So if only pausing talking is not lethal for you, keep yourself silent, too, and your heart will be filled with this incredible silence and peace! And, yes - before this you will ride a camel there! And, yes, you will hear national melodies and taste their national food!

The second highest mountain pass in Morocco - 2093 m - giving beautiful views from the lookouts from the top and along the winding route as it makes it way down the argan tree covered hills to the Sous plain below. The Tizn Test pass road was built by the Fench in the 1930s. At this height, during the winter months from November to April, the pass can be blocked by snow. This route is a stunning drive - lovely scenery pretty much all the way from Marrakech at one end and Taroudannt at the other. Unfortunately, though I got stunning views along the way with autumn colours in the valleys and snow on the mountains, it was just past sunset when I arrived at the Tizn Test pass so I still have to haul out the photos from previous visits and scan them in! by mafi_moya The High Atlas are some of the most dramatic and highest mountains in North Africa, and Jebel Toubkal is one of the highest peaks on the whole continent. I hadn't expected to see snow in Morocco, even in winter, but apparently it's even good enough for skiing here and the mountains are snow-capped for much of the year. In the summer you can climb Toubkal and the other major peaks but in winter time, unless you're an expert climber, you're restricted to just looking. Still, it's beautiful scenery and there is great hiking potential on the lower slopes. Leave a Comment

by mafi_moya I love the traditional Islamic architecture and North African style buildings and Marrakech has some fantastic museums and designs to see. It's also a livelier, cosmopolitan side of Morocco with great restaurants, tea cafes, some good bars, and the must-do tourist haven of Djemaa el-Fna at night. The old medina takes you back to mediaeval times with narrow twisting alleyways, horsedrawn carts and the ringing sound of blacksmiths. Now if you could just get rid of the entire population and replace it with people who were actually friendly and welcoming instead of seeing every visitor as a walking wallet then Marrakech would be a truly great city. As it is it's still a fun place and well worth a visit, even if you might end up wanting to strangle a few of the locals. See my Marrakech page for more info... Leave a Comment

The Volubilis Dog, The Archeological Museum. by Paul2001 There are few museums in Morocco that I recommend. One of the few is the Archeological Museum in the capital city of Rabat. This is the best archeological museum in Morocco. It features artifacts from pre-historic times to the early Islamic period. The museum is particularily noteworthy for its fine collection of Roman bronzes which were mostly at a special exhibition in Paris when I visit this museum. Regardless, the rest of the museum was worth visiting especially if you have an interest in archeology. Many of the pieces come from the nearby Roman ruins at Chellah and from Volubilus. The museum is opened from 9am to 11:30am and 2:30pm to 5:30pm everyday but Tuesday when it is closed. It cost 10dh to enter. we're having tagine on the beach today! by angiebabe, 4 more photos Despite Morocco's beaches being notorious for lots of rubbish - just as the typical sight out in the countryside the sight of trees and ground covered in black plastic bags, bottles and whatever else has been chucked around the place trying to perish for the next 50 years - the miles of coastline prove many lovely spots of white or golden sands and picturesqueness. This trip staying with beach lovers who live just north of Agadir I got to follow them and meet their favourite haunts (Taghazout and beaches in bays north of there) as well as head off with my rental car and a friend of theirs (to not only see lovely Aglou plage/beach again south of Agadir) but to discover a few more lovely places north along the Agadir coast such as Imsouane and Tafadla. As far as the rubbish goes make sure youve got some sort of protective foot wear on - and be careful with any broken skin - but there are people who do go and clear the rubbish up, especially those who are sittiing about with their camels and deckchairs waiting for customers and staff of cafes and so on beside the beach, but often just into piles though so that it all moves around again with the next tide. Out on the coast about 100 km from Agadir is this lovely fishing village - theres a huge fish market here along with fishermen's quarters - beside a lovely wide beach that is obviously very popular with surfers. The surf was looking pretty good when we visited. We got even better views from a look out platform/roof above the restaurant that has prime position right next to the fishmarket. We got talking to one of the guys who works there and he thoroughly recommended his place as the place to eat and sit a while! but just being up on the roof soaking in the sunset and the 360 degree views for 20 minutes or so was lovely. by mafi_moya Right at the eastern edge of Morocco, near the Algerian border, the vast Erg Chebbi at Merzouga offers a taste of the Sahara desert. Huge sand dunes stretching for miles, camel treks, Berber tents and a jet black sky full of millions of stars. You can even go skiing on the dunes. See my Merzouga page for more. Leave a Comment
