Christmas weather in Marrakech & Essaouira

by earthflyer

A week in Marrakech is along time I would split it in half and spend Christmas in Marrakech and New Year in Essaouira only 3 hours away on the coast but you have a big beach, the medina, The harbour & sunsets.Weather in Marrakech & Essaouira at christmas time is usually clear blue skies with cold nights but do expect a day here and there to rain but in general the weather will be good. Average daytime temp about 20-24c

Touring Morocco with a guide

by ldoucet

We were in Marrakech for a business conference but wanted to see the rest of Morrocco and the desert. After some online research, we decided the best option for our group of four (2 couples) would be a car and driver to take us from Marrakech through the Atlas Mountains to Merzouga where we could journey into the Erg Chebbi dunes of the Sahara, and then on to Fez in the North. Brahim, the owner of Riad Nezha in Merzouga, came highly recommended on online forums. We contacted him and he created a wonderful, well-priced, customized five day trip for us. He punctually picked us up at our hotel in Marrakech in his Toyota Landcruiser at 8:30 the first morning, and then proceeded to truly show us the real Morocco, but without omitting the tourist must-sees. He was a very careful driver, very enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide, and a warm and sociable host. These five days (including one day...

Dining in Essaouria

by sasiren435

In Essaouria, there is a good place to eat that is not on the main tourist area and the prices are half or less what you will pay. U buy the fish from the stall and take it to the back alley place and they cook it for u. Much better that the other main place to eat.

The Old City or Suq of Fes (Fez)

by zuhur

Had a wonderful trip to Fes and the highlight was the suq. Why? As in other covered market areas, it is a combination of a historic area and a tourist site. I am SO technically disabled, cannot post them, but have great pictures of sweets sellers, instrument/music stores, bridal contraptions that are built to carry the bride on a procession (carriage, horse, I think). One photo of a little girl who was pestering me to take her picture and wanted money, but was happy with a dollar. Our group was taken to see a fabulous 5 star hotel in the middle of the suq - you couldn't find it on your own, but wonderful place to stop and eat, which we did

Morocco Tour

by Berberes

Morocco is a fascinating country filled with mysterious beauty and extreme contrasts. Even though it is only one hour by ferry from Spain, it seems worlds apart with a deeply traditional culture based on Islam, that might be quite unknown to some of you. In one day, you will see young ladies in short skirts, women totally covered and only revealing their eyes, oln 'jellabas' (long robes with a hood) and water sellers in traditional costume. You can explore thousand years' old medinas, where you may feel as if you are walking in medieval times. Feel the modern rush of cosmopolitan cities, the quiet beauty and solitude of sand dunes in the desert near Merzouga or see snowcapped mountains dotted with Berber villages and beautiful beachesExcellent trip in the Desert of Erg Chebbi at MerzWatching the sun rise or set over the sand dunes of Merzouga may be the most spectacular experience you...

by desert_princess

As Khouribga was a town lost in the contry of Morocco , I was able to see the real moroccan way of living and traditions as a kid. This is a Moroccan Marriage procession - Khouribga , that just passed under our windows as we were living in the medina in the center of the town.

Oualidia - Nice protected beach.

by pfsmalo

Oualidia central beach is well protected from the elements by a high bar of rocks about a 100 metres out. Nice and curved and kept clean, a few hotels are scattered round the outskirts. A good vigourous walk before breakfast out to the rocks is recommended.

Cookery Class In Marakesh

by Wittyone55

Hi, I'm a 50 something Aussie woman living in London. I went to Marakesh last year on my own (had been there before). The previous visit I went to the High Atlas Mountains and spent a night there in Ouzazzarte (but that was Club Med) and thought it was great. Last visit, apart from haggling in the souk and wandering around the local attractions, I did a day Cookery Course at La Maison Arabe - It was great. They took you to a lovely setting in the Palmerie. The cookery class was fun, well organised and we had a great bunch of people attending. Then we sat out in the Garden and ate what we cooked, with wine of course! To book, I phoned the hotel and they had a place for an English speaking person, but this was off season. Also, I am looking at going on a Pueblo Inglais trip to Spain for 8 days in May speaking English at a live-in venue in Soria. They pay for all except the flight to Madrid....
