Fountains at night, Marrakesh by suvanki My first view of Marrakesh was at night, driving from the airport to my hotel. I love arriving in a new place at night, when everywhere is lit up. My first memories were of the Koutoubia Mosque, illuminated against the night sky, plus the many fountains we passed at the intersections of Ave Mohammed V. This fountain was opposite the Koutoubia Mosque, near one of the roads leading to Djemma el Fnaa.
If visiting in Winter, you'll need to wrap up warmly if admiring the night time views! Leave a Comment Theme: OtherAddress: Ave Mohammed V

Fantasia of Chez Ali is a place where you get to dine in royal tents and have dancers from all over morroco dancing infront of you in their lovely colourful clothes....then you get the chance to watch the traditional folklore horse back riding with colorful display of horsemanship. And make sure you starve yourself before going their because they serve you soup, then half a lamb barbequed(yes I know it`s a lot) and then Cuscus(moroccan national dish)then fruits. Don`t forget to take your vedio camera with you, unfortunatly we didn`t,there are lots of action going to happen that only photos are NOT enough!
Anything you feel comfortable in,but I have to whisper something to you, beacuse my husband and I where very well dressed our giude managed to get us the front Royal seats, where we could see the horsemen the best;-) If your visiting marrakish by winter have a jacket with you it gets cold in the night and it`s an out door dining. by deeper_blue The atmosphere here by night is very special, the air is filled with bright white haze and so many different smells. There are three main areas are the food and drink stalls, the performers and acrobats and the indoor shops. Its a great experience which is a little daunting but well worth it. My friend was invited into a boxing competition surrounded by dozens of Arabs (thats something to tell the grandchildren) Just be careful of your belongings here, I didn't take any chances. Prices for drinks can vary from 12 Dir to 70 Dir (for just Bailey's!) depending on where you go in the city. Avoid the new town (Gueliz) if you cant afford to splurge. My friends and I randomly walked into a bar in Gueliz and found it devoid of customers save a few others. The dance floor was bare and the music extremely loud, as if it were an attempt to make up for the lack of customers. Perhaps it was our bad luck, but if you want to check out the bars in Marrakesh, be sure to do your VT research first for a good recommendation or two! Leave a Comment Theme: Nightclub

1st time I've seen Jonathan drinking and sad! by Firestar24, 2 more photos We spent ages looking for this pub in the Ville Nouvelle because our Rough Guide promised us an atmospheric gettaway from the hustle of Marrakech. Well, it was certainly serene!!! It's actually called "Bar Anglais" (yup - English bar) everywhere but in the actual bar itself - which, by the way, is located IN the Nassim Hotel and not NEXT TO as our guide suggested. Anyway, it's really not worth looking for and is actually just another stuffy, overpriced five-star hotel bar. Here are some pictures of Jonathan and I yawning.
We got in as we were, but probably you'd be more suited in beachwear as you lounge by the pool and order mocktails. Leave a Comment Theme: OtherAddress: Hotel Nassim, Ave Mohammed V., GuelizDirections: IN the hotel!!! Not NEXT TO!!!

Fantasia Chez Ali by Minstrelette I was not impressed with this tourist destination. For dinner, they sit you at communal tables in a tent. That part of the evening was okay: dinner was average (soup, couscous, vegetables, and chicken), the people at my table were friendly, and different Berber tribes come in to entertain you with music and dance (this was average as well). Then you go outisde and watch the show: horsemen and acrobats and a "flying carpet". Performers looked bored and tired. I didn't blame them. This was entirely too touristy for me, but if you like Disneyland-type stuff, you'll probably enjoy yourself.

Chez Ali , otherwise known as The Fantasia is a much publicised evening outside of the township in the desert which comprises around 4 hours of both a 4 course dinner with drinks in large Berber tents being entertained by belly dancers and musicians, camels, horses and their riders and ending with fireworks. Some think it a too touristy, but really it is something quite unique anyway. Leave a Comment Theme: TheaterAddress: Palmeraie de MarrakechPhone: +212(24)307730

The Djemaa el-fna square comes to life when the sun goes down then the locals and tourists come out to watch the entertainment and have a moroccan meal in the many open-air food stalls around the square. A must thing to do in Marrakesh. Click on 3 more photos.

Come evening time, everyone in Marrakech seems to head towards or congregate at Djemaa el-Fna. It's a great place to spend the evening. One section of the square is taken over by the orange juice wagons sellers, while the busy food stalls takeover in front of the souks. Across the rest of the square you'll find storytellers, acrobats, musicians, snake-charmers and other spectacles. It can all get very chaotic down here but it's good fun. To take it all in, head for one of the cafes such as Cafe Glacier, or Terrasse Panoramique, whose rooftops overlook the square. Leave a Comment Theme: People Watching

Djemaa el Fna at night by tini58de It is quite fascinating to watch Djemaa el Fna change over the day: while it is empty early in the morning, it is crowded and vibrant with artists, acrobats, drummers, musicians, story tellers and the like during the day. In the evening you will see the food stalls opening up and a whole different atmosphere is being created! Instead of sound it is smell, instead of hectic action it is calm enjoyment! You just gotta love it!
If you go to Djemaa el Fna in the evenings - and if you do it like we did in February - be sure to bring warm clothes!!! It really cools down considerably at night (or even just after sunset!)! Leave a Comment Theme: Eating and Drinking
