 | | | | Local Cuisine: The Restaurant HOTEL ALI .... | Tip Rating: | | | | |
The Restaurant HOTEL ALI . Very good food, very cheap and........ YOU CAN HAVE SIESTA RIGHT THERE, in the seats surrounding the wall where you have just had lunch. Itīs great. Itīs full of people who likes climbing, or trekking and a point of meeting for non-travel agency tourists. In Hotel Ali you can have a vegetarian menu if you please. Very good service and food quality.
The main menu is Tajine, not COUS COUS as I thought, and the first 500 times you eat it itīs absolutely tasteful and great, but after that you will have nightmares with Tajine (Not in Marrakesh but in most of the south in Morocco you just can find Tajine for lunch, and though itīs got a lot of variations, you can get tired of it). The reason why Cous cous is not the main plate is because it takes so much time. It happens the same in Spain with the 'Cocido' (mmmmm!), you eat it only on weekends or some special day in some restaurant. However, Tajine is quite easy to cook and fast, as long as they do it in a special plate with a triangular top which is the same you use to eat. They mix in it potatoes, meat or vegetables, sometimes eggs, and make a tasty spicy souce. Then they eat it with bread and their own hands (I mean in the country, in the south, villages where there are very few inhabitants), but they have cutlery if you need it. Grilled Lamb Chop is supreme. But a Big Big suggestion to make is: 'Eat it where you want but donīt ever ever eat grilled lamb chop if 1. you havenīt seen the piece before and have a good colour and 2. the chops are quite made, almost crusty, in order to avoid further problems. Spicy Lentils at the stalls of the Djemaa el Fna Square are also great!!. Leave a Comment Theme: OtherDirections:
