Meknès by Bus: C.T.M

If you are looking for a cheap way to travel to Meknès, taking the bus is a good idea.
The most comfortable are the busses by the C.T.M. ("Compagnie de Transports Marocains").

The C.T.M bus station is situated east of the Ville Nouvelle, at the Avenue des Forces Royales / Avenue de Fès. From here busses leave, to all major Moroccan cities.

It is advisable to buy your ticket some time before the departure, not right before the busses leave; at that time all seats might be taken. You can check in your luggage in the morning, so you don't have to carry it around with you all day long.
At the concourse there is a little café, where you can spend your time in case you have to wait.

The city has 2 railway stations – the main one Meknès, and the other is El-Amir Abdelkader. My Lonely Planet claims the latter is “more convenient” but doesn’t explain why!

My fellow travellers told me to get off at El-Amir Abdelkader as we approached the city, but didn’t explain why!

So, I’m still guessing what is wrong with the main station.

Anyway, I got a petit taxi right away and was at my hotel (Ibis) in 5 minutes max.
