It’s much easier to find your way around Meknes than Fes. It’s quite a long distance between the Ville Nouvelle and the Medina so if you are staying in the Ville Nouvelle it’s best to take a petit taxi (or your own car) to the medina. We were a little worried about driving in the medina but there were no problems and it was easy enough to find our way. We found a large parking area just west of Place El Hadim, which cost 10 Dh for the day.

Don't get confused, when your are looking for "the" train station in Meknès. There are two stations, the main station and the "Gare El Amir Abdelkader".
The main train station is about 1km away from the city's center.
Getting out at the "El Amir Abdelkader" is the better choice if you lodge in one of the hotels of the Ville Nouvelle. From there you can take a taxi. If your luggage is not to heavy and you want to get a first impression of the town and the lively center of Meknès, you can also walk.

For people who travel often or at certain times, there are special offers,
for example the "week-end-ticket" ("billet week-end").
