    Behind the central market, you will find half a dozen little popular restaurants, under the arcades. Between 12 and 3PM, they are always loaded with hungry passer-by and no table is available. If you wait a minute, there will be always a waiter that will bring another table and chairs (may be wobbly !) and install it for you a little further. You can eat grilled fish and salad for a low price (exact price given soon)

    Restaurant La Clef serves harira, tajine, couscous, pastilla, etc... And they serve alcohol. "Pastilla" (or "bastella") is a Moroccan only dish made with alternate layers of thin and crunching paste, ground almonds, mashed pigeon. It is topped with sugar and cinnamon. It is a must taste in Morocco

    The "harira" is a yummy soup with every season vegetables and special Moroccan mixture of sweet spices. It is absolutely delicious. I strongly recommend tasting harira at least once and From what I have tasted, harira in "la Clef" is among the best.

    You cannot find it if you don't know the place, especially at night. When you drive northwards along the coast, at the very beginning of the ''Casbah des Oudaias'', you will see a dark and narrow space between two high walls (Casbah des Oudaias's walls). Ounce you drive in, you first feel you are wrong but there is no possibility to make any U-turn, so? After 500 m, you arrive to a little parking lot with a warden and it is ''La Caravelle''. The place is very quiet and have good fresh fish. They serve wine.

  • Directions: Outside the south-western walls of the Casbah des Oudaias. On the photo, walk up, pass the main entrance of the Casbah and it's inner wall. The passage will be on your right, between outer and the inner walls, just when the road go down to the Ocean.

    Restaurant Tajine wa tanjia has various kind of tajine and tanjia, as the name of the restaurant says. I took ''tajine herga'', a tajine with a calf foot. I was so hungry and it was so delicious that I forgot to take a photo !

    Top level ! Actually, I mean second floor ! It is very simple but inexpensive. As they are close to the market, they serve grilled fish, tomato salads and have delicious bread. Of course, they do not serve any alcoholic beverage.

    The beef tajine is among the most ''usual'' tajines. There can be innumerous varieties of this tajine. This one had cooked olives and lemon was very tasty. It can also have gombos, or prune or quince or almonds, to give a few of them.

    • In the medina, you will sometimes find small booth selling sandwiches with a boneless and seasoned grilled sardine in half a lump of bread, or a fried piece of large fish, or a bowl of snails cooked in broth. It's always delicious, inexpensive ... and filling.

    This dish is not mine ! I could not have eaten both a tajine and three soles ! Being a harbor city, the fish is very fresh and never disappointing. However, and that is why I did not choose the soles, the cooking is not very different from what we find at home.

    Restaurant ‘’Bordj Eddar’’ cooks good fresh fish. They serve wine.

    What is convenient if you have a car is that as they are on the outskirts of the city, they have a large parking.

    What is inconvenient for those who have no car, is that it is not inside the city !
