Mozambique is hot by cleocat Very light , cool clothes for summer. It gets very hot. Always take something warmer as well. The weather can change quickly and when it becomes rainy and windy it can be colder.
Enough mosquito repellant as this is a malaria area. Lots of sunscreen. If you in and out of the water the whole time or on a boat you don't feel how bad the sun is, until you look like a prawn by nightime. Leave a Comment

by LAOWAI Take your guard dog, electical fencing and gun. Apparently crime is rife. I only heard of one or two people getting mugged and beaten up, but a few had their car broken into or something stolen. Just lok at what the locals do- they have signs upin front of their homes just like in South Africa. See sign- RAPID ARMED RESPONSE.

If you are so unlucky and catch malaria. Bring your own needles/lancets and wiping cloth for bloodsampling. You cannot expect the hospital/clinic to have the same procedures as you might expect from home. A personal experienced example is the multiple use of a bloody cloth to wipe your wound...

Always a good idea when travelling anywhere is to have a couple of copies of your Passport. In Mozambique this will be extra important. Other than at the border, never show or handover your passport. Always have a copy on you 24hrs a day. The Police like to 'fine' people who do not have ID. They also like to seize Passports until 'fines' are paid. You can say you lost your Passport and are going to the Embassy to get a new one or that the Hotel insisted on keeping it. Never go out of your hotel without a copy! Leave a Comment
