The island is accessible by dhow, the Arab sailing vessel, from Tandanyanga. The boat can only go with high tide so it's better to ask for the best time to go. To get to the boat you'll have to cross a winding channel in the mangrove swamps with water up to your thigh. Wear sturdy sandals otherwise you'll loose them in the mud, as I did.
