Go to Inhabame
lotharscheer Says:
A quite nice daytrip, particular in a not so nice day but also for some shopping (exept off touristic things like wooden elefants, painted sunsets, sunglasses etc. there is not much to buy in Tofo). Get there by (very full) Chapa for 18 Metical, about 1 hour or by taxi a bit...
WAKE UP EARLY
DAO Says:
See the Sunrise! Tofo is the sort of place that is sometimes too easy to watch the sunset with a load of beers. Try the sunrise. The area is at its most peaceful and beautiful first thing in the morning.
Stuff in the Water
littlebush Says:
Most stuff to do revolves around the water. You can dive or snorkel or see whale sharks. Theres a combined 2 hour trip for snorkelling and whale sharks for just $10! bargain! You can also go quad biking for half a day or go kayaking in the lakes.
FATIMAS NEST: BACKPACKING AND BEER ON THE BEACH
DAO Says:
Fatimas Nest is run by the same nice people who run Fatimas Backpackers in Maputo. It is a nice compound of mixed building that has a commanding view of the whole beach. You can have a great sleep in one of their hammocks overlooking the ocean, sit in their nice outside bar...
NORDIN'S LODGE: FAMILY RESORT ON THE BEACH
DAO Says:
As you enter the compound you just feel relaxed. The breeze sways through the palm trees as you go down the sandy lane that runs the length of the bungalows. They are right on the beach and offer great views without all the hustle of nearby backpacker hostels. The thatched...
Barra Beach lodge: Classy chalet!
littlebush Says:
The Barra beach lodge just along from tofo beach is a great resort right on the beach. Be warned , to get there you will need a 4x4 as the road is very sandy and we got our bus stuck and had to be towed out!The resort itself has many different kinds of accomodation, we got a...
CASA DE COMER: NICE EXCEPT THE PRICE (AND THE SERVICE!)
DAO Says:
I really wanted to eat here. Twice. The first time was at lunch, but they ran out of food. The second time was at night but they had too many people. Rather than make us feel welcome or suggest we get some drinks, the staff made us feel in the way. In fact they made sure to...
CASA BARRY: SERVICE WITH A SMILE AND A STOPWATCH
DAO Says:
This restaurant is formed by a massive wooden terrace that towers over the southern end of the beach. Service is rapid and friendly. The menu is very large and diverse. You can sit on long benches that go right to the edge. Music blends into the backgroung to make a great...
Casa de Comer: Fresh SeaFood with French Flavors !
BrigitaCarcuda Says:
Nice restaurant, are central to Tofo where we find the quality of French cuisine, although the products are 100% local.Perfect for a meal with family or friends for those who enjoy, like me, the carpaccio, the Feuillete of fish with a glass of wine.Awarded:)

anyone with a BBQ: Fresh Lobster for Lunch
MarioPortugal Says:
Once we parked the car in Tofo Beach, several street sellers round us showing their stuff. Goods were either woodcraft or food, mostly seafood. Since it was lunch time, our option turn on the fresh lobster that was being shown to us. After some negotiation the final price...
BAMBOOZI: GET BOOZY AT BAMBOOZI
Helpfulness
DAO 3383 reviews
Dress Code: This Backpacker complex has a fantastic bar high up on the dunes. You can get a cold 2M or Manica beer and lie in the hammocks just outside and watch the tide. They have games and other entertainment, but the chairs and hammocks with commanding views of the whole beach make this the best bar in Tofo.
They also offer food.

FISH WITH THE LOCALS
Helpfulness
DAO 3383 reviews
Fancy an early morning fish breakfast? Have a fish with some of the local men. They get up early and will probably let you join them for a small gift. The guys are out early to provide a good daily meal for their families and socialise at the same time. They are happy to have company, as this is a fun morning out as well.
There are several hotels that will let you grill your fish later in the day, or breakfast if you really want. This is a lot cheaper than the charter boats that will charge you a fortune because you are a tourist. You can learn more about the local families routine and the challenges they face day to day.

MALARIA KILLS
Helpfulness
DAO 3383 reviews
Its not just the landmines that kill, so does Malaria. If you are traveling from South Africa, remember your tablets and sprays! It is much easier to buy your needed supplies before you get into the country.
I would suggest you buy repellant with 100% DEET.

Chill out
Helpfulness
littlebush 1031 reviews
Favorite thing: Tofo is a great place to chill out for a few days and enjoy the sun, the sand and the warm Indian ocean. You can go diving, snorkelling or quad biking. The beach is huge and easy to just chill out on!
